Day 27: Arts and Crafts Room (2nd Shift)

Sep 23, 2007 00:21

With the nurse's guidance, Rinali was the first one into the room.  Along the way she did her best to make note of what she saw, but everything seemed to fit what the nurse had said.  This looked for all intents and purposes to be a mental asylum.  Still, everything was off.  Why did the nurse say her name was Mei Dianfu?

"Here's everything you need ( Read more... )

Fai followed the nurse at an easy, relaxed pace as she lead him down the hallway and into a large, open room. There were round, plastic tables set up with all sorts of objects upon them. "You've made it just in time for Arts and Crafts Robin, why don't you draw a pretty picture? Or, well there's lots of others things to do too ( ... )

Before Danny could tell what was going on, breakfast had ended and he was swept away with everyone else to go to either arts and crafts or the Sun Room. Danny didn't know which was which, or what happened in the Sun Room, so he was more or less prepared for whatever would happen in either activity.

When he found himself in a room with paper and crayons and plenty of art supplies he was pretty sure he couldn't name, he had guessed he made it to Arts and Crafts. It actually looked sort of like his school's art room, except there wasn't a cranky old teacher in it.

Danny wandered around the room, unsure of what to do. Obviously, he should be doing arts and crafts, considering it was Arts and Crafts time ( ... )

Fai looked up from his doodle of kitties and hearts and flowers to see a young boy. He offered him a friendly smile and held up the drawing for his approval. "I like yellow," he replied. "It's bright and pretty!" And of course most fun of all because Kuro would find it obnoxious!

He set the paper down after a moment and tilted his head slightly, looking the other boy over. He was probably about Syaoran's age, though he didn't know if their demeanor matched just yet. "I'm Robin!" he added cheerfully. That was the name they'd given him when he entered this world, so it was probably the one he ought to stick with to remain less suspicious.

....for a guy, he drew the weirdest things. Those were the sorts of things a girl would draw, and not even the kinds of girls he knew, who were usually more familiar with weaponry. He'd expect Paulina or Star to draw kitties and hearts and those types of things, not a grown man!

Looking at the bright yellow paper--which was starting to hurt his eyes, by the way--he felt he was supposed to say something. "It's...nice," he said hesitantly, unsure of what to say about the picture. "Robin," he added quickly, tacking the name onto the end. "I'm Danny."

Danny glanced down at his plain paper covered in random lines. They seemed to be forming something, but it looked like someone had blindfolded themselves and begun to draw. Ah well, he wasn't much of an artist anyway.

[Goku plz]

Well, that hadn't been much fun at all! That Hinamori Momo had been pretty cute, but she'd talked a whole lot about stuff that Peony didn't care much about at all. Being as concerned with the material world as he was, he didn't really pay much attention to spirits, or whatever happened after someone died, or anything like that. There were much more important things to worry about! Like the latest swimsuit fashions, straight out of Baticul. Oh yeah.So when the talking box on the wall announced that Arts and Crafts was the order of the day, Peony was gleeful. Now he'd finally be able to recreate the beauty of his favorite rappigs in an unforgettable portrait that would grace the closet in his room for as long as he was staying here ( ... )

It was a shame, but once again Goku's nurse was tardy. Or just took a while to wake him up, either excuse ended up reasonable ( ... )

The emperor hadn't been expecting anyone to come over and meet him just yet, much less a strapping young lad with a grin as wide as Saphir's when the fon scientist had just discovered that yes, occasionally Jade did pay attention to him. Except this kid didn't look like he was as evil or insane as Saphir. He didn't look like much of anything, really. But no one did in this place! That was the main problem with a regulated uniform - it really stifled creative expression, and reduced the chances of one getting a good mental picture of the person they were about to speak with ( ... )

So far, so good. Apparently Goku had some decent luck when it came to approaching people (this man was the first, every other time he'd walked up to Sanzo, Hakkai, or Kenren), judging from his reception. The greeting only made his grin broaden, though it was hard to see how it could do so. But this was Goku, and he had a tendency to make the impossible possible ( ... )

A nurse had ushered Omi away from Ken almost as soon as the intercom clicked off, stating that he really needed to make some friends his own age instead of following those older boys around all the time. No laying about in the sun room today, either. It wasn't healthy, the nurse was sure, for young boys like him to spend all their time sitting around talking without doing anything constructive.

Unluckily for Rinali, she was the first person 'Omi's age' the nurse caught sight of in the Arts and Crafts room. "Ah. Perfect. Michael, this is Mei. She just arrived here today, so I'm sure you'll help her feel right at home. Mei, why don't you and Michael work on something together? Doesn't that sound like fun?"

The nurse bustled off with smile, leaving Omi standing next to the table, not quite sure if this should be awkward or not. He smiled at the girl he'd just sort of been introduced to. "Um... hi."

Rinali smiled warmly to the young boy. He looked about as awkward as she felt. Like with the nurse before, there was no reason to be rude until she knew better what was going on. "Hi," she said. "I'm...um...the nurse called me 'Miss Mei.'" She looked obviously confused at this point.

She looked around suspiciously for the nurses. They were far enough away that they likely wouldn't be able to hear what she said so long as she kept her voice low. "Where are we?" she asked quietly. "I don't recognize you from the Order. Are you a Finder?"

Omi dropped down into a chair, poking through the supplies on the table. Nothing really interesting, but hey, if they were stuck here until lunch he might as well entertain himself. "But that's not really your name, right? I'm Omi."

He blinked, glancing back up when she lowered her voice. Curiosity inevitably won out over the desire to helpfully describe their situation. "A finder? No, sorry. What's the Order?"

Rinali nodded at Omi's response. No, she wasn't Miss Mei, and it was good to have someone confirm that for her. "No," she answered. "My name's Rinali Li. I'm pleased to meet you."

Omi's lack of knowledge about the order made her blink. If this wasn't run by the black order, then where exactly was she? "It's an organization within the Church," she answered. "We're...I'm an exorcist. So, you've never heard of exorcists before?"

There weren't many people here yet. Riddick had left breakfast at the first chance; the conversation with Sparda had been... annoying. The orderly had met the Furyan in transit, and further annoyed Riddick by leading him to the arts and crafts room which looked like a complete waste of time. It might have been too much to hope for something useful in all this mess... there was vague potential but the killer's dark mood wasn't lifting any time soon. And should he join the others, he was surely in for more fucking useless socializing.

Riddick dismissed the orderly before he found a seat. He had no intention of actually sitting at one of the tables; he found a place on the floor with his back to the wall and merely observed the others darkly. It wasn't the most comfortable position considering his ribs... but it would do.

Mousse allowed himself to be led to arts and crafts, sliding his glasses back into some unseen portion of his covered body. The nurse may not have understood him completely, but that didn't mean Shampoo WASN'T here, did it?

In fact, as he peered across the room, he was delighted to see that despite his earlier blunder, Shampoo WAS here. He was positive of it this time. She probably needed comforting too, and since that accursed Ranma Saotome was nowhere to be seen, he would be the one to offer it.

Enthusiastically diving at what appeared to be Shampoo, Mousse wrapped his arms around "her" from the side, crying with joy and snuggling next to "her", "Oh, SHAMPOO! Thank goodness you're alright!"

...had she put on weight? It was a bit harded to wrap his arms around her than usual. And she had a very...manly smell to her today...

Being as he'd been watching other people arrive and actually partake in the asinine activities, Riddick was caught fairly unawares by the approaching stranger.

"What the fuck," he growled as he shoved the offending person away, slamming them into the edge of the nearest table in the process. Riddick rose into a defensive crouch, all actions so far being little more than pure instinct. Whether this guy had mistaken him for someone else or not, Riddick was in no mood to be understanding, much less forgiving. His ribs ached even worse now thanks to this new guy's "loving" onslaught.

Mousse slammed into the table with a loud noise, cursing in pain. The voice that had answered him was deep and very unlike Shampoo's- could he have been mistaken again?

Sorely pulling himself up (he was used to such treatment) as if nothing had happened, he once again produced his glasses and stared long and hard at Riddick. Huh. Not Shampoo.

Not that it gave him any right to throw the Amazon around and Mousse let him know by planting a quick kick to the side of his head. It wasn't as hard as he could have delivered, but it was sharp enough to teach the larger man to be a bit more curteous. He added, none too nicely, "And who are YOU?"

Raven had barely managed to finis her breakfast before the shift-change announcement. Arts and Crafts sure seemed to be a popular activity in Landels, especially during Nightshift…

Her choices were between being bored in the Arts and Crafts and being bored in the Sun Room. Although it was a hard choice, she ended up selecting the former.

There were a few people already in the room, but she didn’t really pay any attention to them. Instead, she grabbed the necessary materials, went to a nearby table and started working her hands into the clay.

Might as well attempt to sculpt something while she was there.

Something scary.

Breakfast had done nothing to change his mood. No, it could have possibly made it worse, but Kyon refused to think about at the moment. He a slight apathetic sigh, he let the cheery nurse direct him to the Arts and Crafts room. What exactly was going on?

Eh, maybe he could call this shock. It was a bit delayed but whatever.

He wandered over to atable where he saw a few others he didn't recognize, and a girl sitting down with a glob of clay. She looked like she was making some kind of movie monster. Huh.

"Nice monster." He said flately

Raven knew that if you really wanted to make something scary, you had to give it tentacles. The number didn’t matter, really. You just had to give it enough so that your imagination could take of the rest.

Disturbing, truly disturbing.

Having finished one of them, she started on the other when some sat near her.

“Thanks.” She said, continuing her work. “Maybe I can use it to frighten the nurses enough to let me go.”

Kyon noted the tentacles, being the kind of guy that's probably read far too many manga or played too much final fantasy for it to be healthy. It was a nice tough he thought, as she started on another.

When she answered him he noted the return of his tone.

"Sounds like a good idea, let me know how that goes," He answered. Huh, now that he looked at her, he remembered something Haruhi had told him the day before.

A grey skinned girl.

"Hey, you wouldn't be an alien, would you?" He asked casually, remembering how Haruhi had meant to ask her before but never got around to it. If she looked at him like he was crazy, he could just blame his erratic Brigade chief.
