With the nurse's guidance, Rinali was the first one into the room. Along the way she did her best to make note of what she saw, but everything seemed to fit what the nurse had said. This looked for all intents and purposes to be a mental asylum. Still, everything was off. Why did the nurse say her name was Mei Dianfu?

Well, that hadn't been much fun at all! That Hinamori Momo had been pretty cute, but she'd talked a whole lot about stuff that Peony didn't care much about at all. Being as concerned with the material world as he was, he didn't really pay much attention to spirits, or whatever happened after someone died, or anything like that. There were much more important things to worry about! Like the latest swimsuit fashions, straight out of Baticul. Oh yeah.So when the talking box on the wall announced that Arts and Crafts was the order of the day, Peony was gleeful. Now he'd finally be able to recreate the beauty of his favorite rappigs in an unforgettable portrait that would grace the closet in his room for as long as he was staying here ( ... )

It was a shame, but once again Goku's nurse was tardy. Or just took a while to wake him up, either excuse ended up reasonable ( ... )

So far, so good. Apparently Goku had some decent luck when it came to approaching people (this man was the first, every other time he'd walked up to Sanzo, Hakkai, or Kenren), judging from his reception. The greeting only made his grin broaden, though it was hard to see how it could do so. But this was Goku, and he had a tendency to make the impossible possible ( ... )

Peony had drawn rappigs on the bulletin board, but all too often his art had been met with a What's that? or a It looks like a pig. Well, no, it wasn't a pig. People kept pigs for pork in Auldrant, so he knew what one was, but there was no real way that someone could mistake a pig for a rappig. Rappigs were much cuter on the whole!
"Only the cutest, most cultured animal ever! Such cleanliness and intelligence, and even better yet, they're round and fun to hug. I keep a lot of them at home - let me show you!" He produced a napkin with a little doodle on it. It was the sketch he'd shown to that Hinamori girl last shift, and he seemed to be recreating it in much grander scale on the paper before him. A shame that he had no actual artistic talent.
Peony sighed, drawing his attention back to the page in front of him. "It just bums me out that no one else seems to have them in their worlds."

Cute, cultured animal? It was a pet then? He'd never been allowed to have one, but he had found a few animals that he'd taken to the temple anyway. ... None of them were ever that clean, but they were fun nonetheless. Maybe the rappigs this guy kept were similar? It could have been like a dog, or a turtle. Or a -
Pig?
Goku stared at the drawing, leaning in close. Now that he thought about it, there was the word pig in it; it did make sense. Only, pigs weren't pets. Were they? Pigs were supposed to be eaten, that was why you could make so many delicious foods from them. Could just as many be made from rappigs? Then blond-guy might have them as livestock, or be a veg... ... vege... A monk. It was hard to imagine anyone living off of beans and rice ( ... )

Even so, his surprise quickly faded and he spoke with a casual enough tone. "Well, it's a thing that people either really like or really.. don't." His tastes veered, as could probably be assumed, toward the really don't side. "People eat them quite a lot where I'm from, but I don't know if there are any here."
He raised his marker, grinning. "So, that's why we have to draw them!"
So the emperor hunched back over his paper, drawing an outline of a big round brown spot on the back of the animal. "Are you the type that tries a whole lot of new things?" He meant food, he meant activities.. whatever!

Oh ... and that too. Not having any, not being able to request. He really had wanted to try those rappigs too, they sounded interesting. Playing with them could be fun as well, if someone much older (technically much younger) did it ( ... )

Although...
"Hahaha, maybe you have a tapeworm," the emperor said, deadpanning his expression. Of course there was very little possibility that the kid did have one if the Landel's doctors were to be trusted. With how fast his wounds were being treated, there was no reason not to trust them, so.. eh.
He gestured in the direction of the marker basket with a grin. "Go get yourself some markers! I already have the pinks and browns, so don't worry about those."
