Nightshift 26: First Floor Stairwell Beside Waiting Room 1

[from here]Aidou paused for the second time that night, listening half-heartedly to the radio announcement. The volume was painfully low, so that it didn't attract any unwanted attention. None of it interested him, even as the riddles came easily enough. None of it was useful to him. So far nothing the monkey on the radio had offered had caught his ( Read more... )

His leg was going to really hate him for this later, that was for sure. But Keigo didn't care. The pain, he could learn to deal with. But what he couldn't ever learn to deal with was being alone. It had only been one day, but this place was too scary and it was hard enough just going home from class by himself back home! And if that was Ichigo...

Well. Keigo didn't know what he'd do. He'd think about that when it happened. Right now, he just needed to make sure that he was real.

After stopping briefly to catch his breathe, he stumbled up the stairs, clutching tightly onto the railing with his free hand.

Claire had run from her room with no clear destination, just intent on getting as far away from that crazy woman as possible. Stopping to catch her breath, she tried to catch her bearing in the dark. The male blocks were near here - maybe she could find Wesker or (she still had a small hope) RC.

A familiar voice drifted down the hall and made Claire tense. It was her again. Not wanting to wait around for Larxene to finish her "fun", Claire sped off towards the first set of male cell blocks.

Cyrille's hands nervously clutched the map and flashlight she had. Being in a group was definitively much better than being alone at night. Usually, Cyrille would hate to be with others to perform a mission, but never had she felt the fear and uncertainty that she had to feel now.

She was the navigator, though. She had to show her strength, she couldn't help but feel useless otherwise. Magic wouldn't work here, so she had to improvise. She did promise Peony she'd help, and it seemed her scrutinizing paid off. Cyrille had found the stairs. Boo-yah, she could read a map!

"It seems we've found the first landmark of our..." Cyrille groaned at the next word, "quest." She was hopeful, but Cyrille was still rather unsure of what to expect once they reached the second floor. Chills ran down her spine, but it was not time to be scared ( ... )

The first reason that Peony did believe that stuff about 'other worlds' was the whole thing about no one knowing he was the emperor here - and if they did, they were really good at pretending. When people started talking about not even knowing what fonons were, that was the second reason.

The third reason? It was just more fun that way. Cute alien girls? Hello.

Peony was about to congratulate the blonde when he heard faint sounds of a battle happening at the top of the stairs, and moved in front of Cyrille, trusty mop at hand. Turning back to the girls with his shine-tube, he whispered, "Hey, there's something up there. Do we want to try to sneak past or help whoever it is?"

Truthfully, Peony would be happy either way. Acting like a hero could probably be fun, especially if he got to save a cute girl - but sneaking past a battle could be just as fun, providing they didn't get caught.

There was no mistaking the sounds of a struggle. Anise shifted and tightened her grip on the pipe. Were they going to run into trouble this soon in their expedition?

And here the emperor was ready to jump right into it. As much as Anise liked that carefree nature of his, Guy and the colonel had entrusted her with his well-being! She couldn't let anything happen to him.

"Huh? Sure, I'd like to help them, but..." As a soldier, she would feel pretty rotten if a civilian got injured or killed while she was nearby. But that was nothing compared to the trouble she would be in if the emperor got hurt under her watch! "Is it really okay for us to go rushing headfirst into danger like that? We don't know what could be up there." She looked over at Cyrille, hoping she would also try talking some sense into the man.

Cyrille strained her ears to hear the upcoming struggle. It really did sound as if a fight was approaching, and it was approaching fast. They still had time to turn back or go forward, but Cyrille saw no reason to go back now. Their whole night would be wasted, it was far too early ( ... )

Aya could see Omi gathered more company right after his leaving. It seemed Omi was handling the whole socializing number just as well as Aya would have expected him to. In the dark stairwell, he allowed a pale smile curve his lips for a moment as he took two steps at the time, hurrying upstairs.

[from here]For being told that there was danger possibly ahead, this human child was far too energetic. Her foolishness and impulsiveness fondly reminded the Pokémon of Ash, actually. That was probably why Mewtwo wordlessly followed Haruhi up the stairs ( ... )

Haruhi was working her way up the stairs now, keeping a steady lead, though it didn't seem like he had any desire to overtake her.

"Mewtwo?" she called over her shoulder, "That special Pokémon! Oh, from that movie thing... You're a clone or something, right? And you were going to take over the world like some kind of evil genius." it had been a long time since she had seen the movie, but she thought she had the gist of it.

"A trainer? I don't have any Pokémon. I don't even have my gameboy anymore. You know, to play the game on." She paused on the stair, turning to look down at him and mimicked with her hands like she was pressing the buttons on a gameboy. "Do you know what that is?"

When the girl mentioned how he was a clone, Mewtwo immediately stopped in the middle of the stairwell. There was a hard glare on his face, like Haruhi had something offensive - she did not, but how she knew the truth was something Mewtwo would like to know very much how this human child knew about his earlier mistake. It was probably easy to guess from his name that he was a copy - it was a simple guesswork.

Nobody was supposed to remember about his plans. His foolish ideals. He had made sure every trainer had forgotten, and he knew that this girl had never made it onto New Island.

"How did you know of that?" Mewtwo questioned her, struggling to keep himself from snapping at the human. "Who told you?"

He ignored her comments about a 'Game Boy'. This was more important.

What, why was he glaring at her? It was kind of freaky.

"N-no one told me," her voice was a little unsure under her gaze. "It was from a movie. You know, moving pictures." She waved her hands around as if that explained it. It really didn't. "Pokémon aren't real in my world. They're from this video game. There's a card game too... But there was this movie that you were in and that's how I know. I don't remember it really well."

But that was definitely interesting. Did that mean other people were from movies and games and stuff? Wait, did that mean she was from something like that?! ...No, that couldn't happen. She was a far cry from a Pokémon. There was also still the possibility that this guy was actually crazy and had watched the movie and become a bit too preoccupied with the character.
