Nightshift 26: Hallway Outside M1 - M40 Blocks

This corridor looked almost the same. Still quiet, though now he noticed more people about. At least that meant he hadn't run into any monsters. He ran along the hall until he saw the door that had caused him and Dr. Birkin so much trouble. From the day now, he knew that at the end of this hall was almost a lobby with the hall to the Sun Room and ( Read more... )

Hitsugaya rushed down the hall, feeling the oppressive weight of Ichimaru's reiatsu with every step.

Dinner was fast and mostly without much thought on his part. Until he spoke further with Rufus, Reno wasn't inclined to bother wasting his time dwelling on the shitload of uncertainties. In fact, the only thing that was certain so far was the pact with AVALANCHE...maybe.

And speak of the devil.

He normally didn't pay attention to anyone making their way through the hallways, but this was an exception. Besides, he wanted to find out how the rest of the self-proclaimed saviours of the planet had taken the news.

The pipe twirled idly between his fingers as he watched Barret peer at the doors.

"Look a little lost, Wallace. Your date try to stand you up by giving you the wrong room number?"

Reno's voice gave him a mild start, though he didn't show it by the glare he shot at the other man. The mention of a date sent a warm reminder of what he'd participated in several nights early. It caused a shudder to ripple throughout his body, and hoped due to the lack of lighting that it remained unnoticed.

The thought made him glare harder as he turned to resume his work, but didn't completely ignore the red head, "I can't remember where Cloud and Cid said their rooms were. Fuck, I don't remember Cid even tellin' me his. Then again, they seem to change some of us out of different rooms like most folks change their underwear," he gave a sigh, scratching the back of his head, "Thought maybe lookin' at the numbers might jog my memory."

He placed his gaze to Reno, the hard expression on his visage easing as he regarded him with curiosity, shining his light toward the man's middle instead of his face to blind him, "You talk to Rufus and Elena about what we talked about earlier?"

Unfortunately (or maybe that was fortunately, for Barret), Reno didn't quite catch Barret's reaction to the date thing.

He would've met the glare, but the ruckus nearby distracted him. His gaze slid over in that direction. There were a few he recognized - most notably Farfarello - and though there was clearly trouble (the blood was an obvious indicator), it wasn't his problem. Besides, there was enough people crowding there to almost block the whole damn hallway.

"Should get them to write in on your hand next time," he remarked before turning towards the hallway leading to Rufus's room. "C'mon, if we're gonna talk, might as well do it where we can hear ourselves."

From the moment the sword had pierced them, Renji had fallen back on instinct; he didn't have the energy to think past the pain, not when he was using shunpou as well. Some vague, instinctive idea of safety had sent him back toward his room.

He didn't make it. He didn't have the strength, not bound and trapped as he was. He lost it in the hallway, pain and darkness overwhelming him - blood, so much blood, soaking them both - and he dropped out of the shunpo with no grace or intention. With his last strength and conscious thought, he curled around River, protecting the girl with his own body as they went tumbling rapidly down the hall, sliding and rolling in to the wall.

He went limp once they were stopped, blood streaming from the deep wound in his stomach, and from his nose and mouth.

[ooc: Renji is so down for the count he's the next best thing to dead. He won't wake immediately upon healing, so feel free to skip him for the time being. (I have to go buy text books now anyway...)]

Soaking wet. She'd been playing out in the puddles again, right against Mother's wishes, and had gone and gotten her nice clothes all soaking wet with the red rain ( ... )

Still cursing under his breath as he ran from the Sun Room, glancing at halls as he passed them, Farfarello finally skidded to a stop when he smelled blood. Conveniently, it was the block his own room was in that River and the other man had landed in; now, getting River to calm down enough to take advantage of that fact... well, that was a whole different matter.

Approaching slow enough not to seem too threatening, but hopefully quick enough to get there before River bled to death, Farfarello moved closer to the bloody heap River seemed to be tangled in. "River...? It's Farfarello. Do you remember me?"

( Coming from here.)

Daemon slipped into the hall, his eyes glowing a chilling eerie gold. Spotting the stranger crouched over a fallen Renji and River, a low snarl escaped him, audible enough to echo in the hall and warn off the strange male.

The hallway grew cold, Daemon's control on his temper slipping further as he saw the blood - so much blood, spilling, pouring from her body, his hands were coated in it - and ice formed along the edges of the walls as he stalked closer to the three, slipping from the shadows with a predatory, feline grace.

"Step away from them unless you'd like me to decorate the walls with your insides." Daemon's voice was a soft croon, but there was no mistaking the malicious intent that underlied the words. He may not have access to his Jewels here, but when riding the Killing Edge, he was still more than able to tear a person apart with his rage as honed as it currently was.

As Xemnas reached the hallway outside of the M blocks, he hadn't ran into trouble thus far. There were a few other patients within this particular hallway as well, yet the Nobody disregarded them.

It seemed something felt off for tonight, yet the Superior couldn't quite place his finger on it.

The moment he stepped into the hallway, safely shadowed in the dark, the full extent of Renji's and River's wounds struck him. Why, he'd almost learned to put it to the back of his mind - the soft, tantalizing scent of blood that came from almost every direction in this place - but they were right there and it was soaking their clothes, pooling on the floor, and they were both nearly unconscious with it...

His eyes, they knew, took on the slight mercurial sheen of blood glow against his will. Renji's scent was different, but River. River was all human, and she was young and healthy, and he needed to eat soon -

The crackle of ice cut straight through the growing haze, and although he hadn't moved or made a noise, Aidou stilled in his place. He hadn't done that. That wasn't his ice, that hadn't been his display of power. Decorate the walls with your insides. So arrogant, so ignorant. What could he do if Aidou gave into the warm whispers and decided to attack? What then ( ... )

Aidou kept watching, meeting those eyes as they flicked over him, even if the man didn't know it. Mother night, huh? That was a prayer he didn't deserve to utter - night was a vampire's mistress, and no one else's.

He smiled slightly. It wasn't a nice smile by far. Definitely time to go.
