[[From here]]Miku stumbled into her empty room and headed for her bed. Unlike other nights, her dubious roommate was not in attendance. That was fine, she needed to think quietly

Alfons didn't believe in 'gut instincts.' He didn't really believe in 'divine inspiration.' The world was a very rational place to him, and even with all of the things going on in the Institute and with everything else, he still believed that scientific thought would solve all of the problems.
Therefore, he wasn't expecting anything at all when he made his way to Miku's room, checking his map from time to time as he strolled along. He still wasn't sure about this 'Byakko' person, but if it was someone who could protect Miku, then that would be the important thing. ...even if it hurt to admit this, even to himself.
Shaking his head out of those thoughts, he pocketed the map and shifted his flashlight to his other hand before quietly knocking on Miku's door. Hopefully she'd waited for him. "Miku, are you in there? It's me, Alfons."
"Mm?" Miku sat straight up in bed, head down, and rubbing at her eyes with her good hand. That was Alfons's voice, wasn't it?
Alfons! her brain snapped to attention and got her moving off the bed a little jerkily. "Alfons-kun!" she sounded surprised to see him. "You came..." she searched for her light, oh, where was it, where was it?
"Er, yes, I did. Um..." And he shifted awkwardly, hearing the faint squeak of springs and Miku obviously flustered, and not feeling comfortable at all with intruding. What if she wasn't decent? Or maybe she'd just woken up, or something?
Regardless, he was relieved that he wasn't too late; that would have been the only unforgivable thing. "I did," he softly called through the door, "I don't want you meeting someone new without me there, after all."
"Come in... I... I can't find my flashlight, I must've fallen asleep on it," Miku swept her hand across the bed and finally found the familiar bump and flicked it on, setting it light-side-up on her bed.
The half light made it easier to see. Her bedsheets were still turned up, but mussed from lightly sleeping, and she wobbled a little before giving up and sitting on the bed. "Have you seen Ritsuka-kun anywhere? I was... stopped on my way out."
