Day 25: Sun Room (Second Shift)

Jun 29, 2007 02:05

Miku was very glad that the breakfast shift (and the uncomfortable conversation) was over. She hadn't felt like gardening - the photographer was likely more apt to killing plants - and her arm throbbed beneath its bandages ( Read more... )

Hisoka had never been happier to see his nurse, especially considering the direction his conversation with Tsuzuki had been going. It had been treading dangerous grounds and the last thing Hisoka needed was for Tsuzuki to actually believe he was going soft.

So for the first time since his arrival at Landel's, Hisoka had actually been relieved as the woman showed up to drag him outside.

Only the nurse's plans got skewed along the way as her not-so-angry-today charge managed to convince her that he had already been outside yesterday and today he would like to go to the Sun Room.

Hell, it worked. Today was a day filled with surprises. When he arrived there was only two other individuals in the room-- two girl, one Hisoka did not recognize, the other Rukia. Despite the girl's solitude, Hisoka really doubted she was in the mood for conversation, a decision the empath was quite grateful for. He wasn't all that willing for conversation right now, either.

As for Rukia, well... asking about kidou could wait a bit. Just until Hisoka ( ... )

While Hisoka had been aloof with Hokuto until now, the word 'games' was like a flick of a switch. Almost immediately after it was said the boy's expression became painfully blank, his narrowed eyes growing cold as he unconsciously mimicked the actions of his father.

"Games are for addled-minded children, I do not need them," the boy replied sharply. None of his words were lies either, even when he was still just a child he had no use for games. He could never remember asking to play any either, regardless of the laughter he could hear from the village children. Games were a pointless waste of time.

Hokuto wasn't nearly as put off as he'd have liked. "Nobody really needs games specifically, do they?" she asked. "We all need some time to relax and unwind, though, and games are one way I like to, at least. There's other things, though."

She'd leave him to suggest what, if he would--sadly unlikely, it seemed. Maybe some other time, after she'd gotten to know him a little. For now, she planned on just keeping up the conversation if possible; if not, she'd try again some other time.

Hisoka wasn't convinced, as if just a few words could undo behavior ingrained into his thoughts since her was just a child. There were many ways to "unwind" and playing games was one of the ways Hisoka looked down upon the most.

"If you want to unwind, take a nap." As he had been trying to do before someone decided he should be talking instead. "Or meditate."

Those, at least, were effective methods.

"Somehow I'm not tired," she admitted. As for meditating... she'd done enough of that lately, it was time to do something not quite that peaceful.

She glanced around the room, and her eyes stopped on... apparently a couple. She smiled, eyes going a little shiny, but as she didn't know either of the men in it she managed not to squeal. Her thoughts were still a very simple Eeee! Neither of them was her "type", but--two still very cute guys cuddling certainly got her attention.

At least she was easily distracted...

"Few are. It has something to do with this place."

It would make sense, Hisoka was pretty sure he was one of the few people here who became exhausted faster than anyone should have normally. It was annoying. The boy's cold thoughts melted away and Hisoka frowned thoughtfully.

He sounded just like his father. Games were a waste of time. Train. Meditate. Hisoka turned his eyes to the floor, ignoring the two men that had captured Hokuto's interest. At least she was leaving him alone.
