Nightshift 24: Hallway outside entry room

The giggling and the stinging scent of pepper faded as Gin and Jack changed their route to the second set of stairs near the doctors offices.  It was Gin's first time leading, usually Jack took that job, letting him take up the reasonably safer rear guard.  He kept his flashlight trained on the path ahead of them, his knife in the other hand.  With

Kenren rushed past, ignoring the other people in the corridor and finally stopping outside the door to the Sun Room. He leaned close to it, hearing sounds of fighting inside. Yeah, that sounded bad. Even if Hakkai wasn't there, he could check out the kitchen again maybe. Find something to use as a weapon other than the vegetable peeler he had lovingly named 'Gojun'.

Susan was happy to get out of the entry room. She realized, as soon as she was out the door, that she had no idea where she was really was. Though, if necessary, she could find her way back to their room.

...like she'd do that willingly.

She kept her flashlight beam down, glancing at Max. "Which way?"

"Think one direction's likely to be more or less nutty than the other?" Max snapped out a retort, following her roommate out into the hall once more. "I'm beginning to wonder what those other patients were talking about. The only weird thing I've seen so far is other patients. Although they certainly qualify."

Sighing, she propped her hands on her hips and looked around. Spotting a stairwell off to their left, she grinned and glanced over at Susan. "Want to see what's upstairs? Maybe that's where these 'monsters' of theirs are hiding."

Max still wasn't so sure they existed, but it was something she wanted to see for herself.

Susan snorted. "I'm hoping they're just crazy," she said. But she turned and headed left, though she waved Max ahead of her. Max seemed much more comfortable being in the lead; it was better, anyway, since if she was in front she wouldn't be getting the glare from the flashlight.

His movements were sharp and swift around the corner as he left those other humans to tend to the injured. Though those events hadn’t been of any interest to him, the knight was beginning to feel an urge to create Chaos, even if he knew it wouldn’t be to the same degree as his usual capability. This had perhaps been the longest he’d gone through without causing some form of disorder one way or another, and he found that notion not sitting well inside. Who ever had summoned him needed to have a good explanation to hold him back to such a degree, and depending on what it was Yuber doubted that he’d be in any mood to listen.

There seemed to be little movement happening in the hallway as the odd human scurried on their way. Walking a few more steps, Yuber came to a stop before his attention drifted back behind him. “I find myself interested in searching the hallway beyond the Sun Room.” Yuber murmured, although he doubted that his companion would have too much of an objection.

"Mmn. All right." Usopp kept following Yuber, tired of his own distractions. The little 'claws' he'd made dug into his side uncomfortably, even though the sharp sides were out, covered by his shirt... he kept his head down, although he could vaguely hear the voices of that woman and her female companions in the hall, near the Sun Room door. Female warriors were more terrifying than men; he'd heard that somewhere. Uninclined to break up their reunion, he kept following Yuber.

Running around like this had gotten to grating on his own nerves... and although he didn't think of it in such terms, he was also overdue for Chaos, even in his own minor ways.

Kazuo had wandered aimlessly for awhile, bypassing groups of people he didn't know, until he ran into Usopp yet again. Apparently the thing with the metal head hadn't gotten him after all. And he was now equipped with...cookware. And a basket of...something. Kazuo supposed that was actually a decent weapon, if you could hit hard enough, but it didn't have much range. Kazuo didn't know the other guy, but he'd been out in the courtyard, too.

"Looks like you've been busy," Kazuo commented. "Mind if I come along? The people I was with seem to have a death wish."

Bypassing the other small groups littering the hallway, Yuber didn’t need to look back to know that Usopp was behind him. About to turn back and continue down the hallway, there was a sudden sense of another drawing nearer to their position. Halting the black knight glanced over the top of his ally’s head as the sight of another human drew close.

They looked to be one from the group he’d seen disappearing over the wall previously. From what he had seen, Usopp had known this particular human. At the question Yuber half turned himself away while his arms folded over his chest. With a careless shrug, the black knight murmured. “If you must”

As dark as ever. Naruto padded down the familiar looking hallway, but he couldn't say that they didn't all look kind of the same. Especially at night. Squinting, he noticed a stairwell in the near distance.

"I've never been upstairs," the blond muttered to his Konoha-nin companion. "It's close to the Entry Room. Want to take a quick look?"

Lee had little difficulty in following Naruto, and he looked around to see that nothing was coming after them.

"I have been upstairs when my comrades and I went in search of Takaya, but we did not manage to get especially far. If we have time, let us see what we may find..."

Having received confirmation, Naruto nodded and kept a speedy pace toward the stairwell, well aware that Lee could handle it. Once again he was appreciative of being able to move through Landel's with another Leaf ninja.

Luke really had to hand it to Masaru; he had no idea how the other boy managed to drag him around for so long. Whatever they were fighting, he couldn't believe that the demon's attack was strong enough to actually knock him out. Ugh, and he was used to being strong. He had to be strong, he couldn't help anyone if he was weak.

But Luke did see that he managed to get some good friends, so perhaps that was all the strength he needed at the moment.

"Don't worry, I won't get knocked out again. I got you guys looking out for me, right? Heh he- ow!"

Stupid burns! He kept forgetting not to move his arms.

"Where are we going anyway?" It seemed Luke wasn't really paying attention and was just going with the flow, something he just realized.
