...Erika's gesture of goodwill was met with more staring and (possibly awkward) silence. Really? Where were her priorities again? It was very tempting to offer another snarky comment on this, but the girl was already moving ahead and Zero didn't feel like it was worth it to keep questioning. Oh, whatever. It looked like Zero was very willing to take the initiative, which was good because Erika was honestly approaching this little side expedition as a break after spending so much energy pursuing the rest of this place's secrets for seemingly nothing. Or maybe she was still butthurt about being ditched by Sync, but she couldn't be expecting too much out of that useless lout. Maybe he somehow got himself killed or removed from the place between last night and tonight, so she had to consider the permanent loss of her nightshift partner. He wasn't a loss, but that ring of his ( ... )

Once again, Erika would be thankful to know that Zero was prepared to handle the door himself and, in fact, preferred it this way. Not that he didn't think Erika couldn't handle the door, too - although how she would do it with that bowl she just had to steal for some reason would be a mystery - but he wanted the physical exercise. The more opportunities he got to help keep this body in good shape and get him used to its limits, the better. So here goes nothing.

This time the door was much more kind, snapping open with only one good kick. That was easy enough...and now they were in.
