Night 60: Main Hallway, 1-East

"Just this next hall?" she asked as they neared the far end of the main hall. Rapunzel hadn't been out to this wing of the Institute in a few days, not since she and Ippo had gone out to the Greenhouse yard. Agh, I should probably check in on him tomorrow. I don't think I did today, Rapunzel thought with a wince. Clueless flirt or not ( Read more... )

“Okay,” replied Tsubaki. If Rapunzel wanted to push on, then it was her job to support her. And the disc was important; she understood why her friend wanted to figure out what might be on it. She wanted to, too. All of the people under Aguilar’s command who had risked themselves trying to undermine the Institute’s authority deserved equal effort on the part of the prisoners. “Let’s figure this out one way or another.”

Although it wasn’t helpful to get too excited over something that could either land them in a great deal of trouble or ultimately be of no value, Tsubaki did hope the disc told them something. Going to all this trouble for nothing would be disappointing at best.

At Rapunzel’s next question, Tsubaki used her finger to point the way and said, “Yes, the rooms just by the stairs here.”

It was quiet with just their hushed voices and muffled footsteps. No other prisoners seemed to be down this way--it was just them.

[From here.]Here. Zero remembered where to go from here - a door on the far right side, just past the two smaller hallways. Putting his thoughts on the drug trials on hold for now, he led Erika to their destination, slightly picking up the pace as he went along ( ... )

Oh, so Zero didn't know that there were two drug trials? He must have come in after the first one, which would only make her narrative more confusing. She should start from the beginning, then ( ... )

I-I haven't even noticed the slow ;; though I've been pretty slow myself... believein0 January 5 2012, 21:28:39 UTC
Fortunately for Erika, Zero didn't need the encouragement; he was already prepared to break the door open, with or without her input. In fact, seeing the rusty lock with the light of her flashlight was all he needed to be reassured that breaking in was possible, making him more determined to do the job himself.

"Leave it to me." He calmly faced the door, taking a moment to ready himself, and then swung his leg as hard as could at it, striking just under the knob. The door shuddered, but didn't snap open like he'd hoped. Ugh, that kick felt weak. Of course, it wouldn't be so weak if he were still... No. Now's not the time to start lamenting over not being a Reploid anymore. He had to get this open. One more try should do it, using the other leg. One, two, go.Thankfully, this time he was successful; the door flew open from the force of the second kick. Great, so either the door was pitifully easy to break or this body wasn't as weak as he kept assuming it was. Hopefully it was the latter...though he supposed it could've been worse. Job ( ... )

In contrast to the previous hall, this one was almost silent. It made for a slightly unsettling atmosphere as they continued toward the medical wing, even though he had been this way several times over the past week.

"It would be preferred," Kratos added, "if they were to be at their full strength, but as last night proved, not even that is enough to merit escape."

"Nothing worth mentioning," Soma said in response to Sonia's question. "Some of the patients here are capable of using certain forms of magic, so I supposed I might as well ask."

Last night. She didn't really want to think about how close they'd gotten--though it was entirely possible that, too, had been an illusion. "There was that pink substance covering the walls, like a force field or something similar. That was probably Aguilar's emergency protocol. I'm certain the institute wouldn't have been standing otherwise."

The door to the medical wing had already been forced open, and she headed through it.
