Night 60: F21-F30 Hallway

It was always interesting to listen to the nightly rantings of whatever madman happened to be in charge, but Erika was remarkably unimpressed by how Landel sounded exactly like Aguilar when he first assumed command of the Institute, even going as far as to warn them that they were responsible for "the coming changes" yet again. So, night had returned once again, and Aigis had a full night of discovery ahead of her. Right after one more nightmare.

Preparing herself, she gave Ema an encouraging word then swept out the door, her first destination just within the block. She had some unpleasant business ahead of her, but she would suffer through it as necessary.

Ema waved to her roommate as she slipped out of the door, offering encouragement (and a plea to be careful) of her own. Once that was accomplished, it was time to gather her things and head out. Lana's room wasn't very far--just the next hall down--but the thought of moving at night scared her more than it usually did. It was dark, she was alone, and last night's events still had a pretty profound effect on her mood and mind.

If she closed her eyes for long enough, she could still see the vague shapes of Mr. Javert all but being torn apart. And the sounds of it...

No. She needed to get to her sister's room. After spending some time to gather her usual equipment, Ema stepped out of the room and began the slow trek toward room F16. She kept one hand on the wall and the other holding the flashlight, taking care not to trip and fall in the darkness.

As eerie and unpleasant as the pinkish glow last night was, she found herself missing it.

If there had been any hope that the Head Doctor might have changed his ways even a little following his absence, it was quickly dashed with the man's nighttime announcement. Celty sighed, thankful only for the dinner that she was finishing up. At least she wasn't eating pink gruel and had convinced herself that what was good for her now was better eaten than abandoned.

I guess I'll start looking again... she told herself with the last bite and rose to head out.

Her lacking powers would be a hindrance once again, but she'd manage. She had before and on a more empty stomach than this!
