[from
here]Even the main hall was deserted. S.T. switched on his flashlight and took a look around. Yeah, it was empty. No roadkill, no other patients. If he ever made it home, he was never bitching at any of the girls who didn't want to do night ops alone again. It was different when you knew there were things out there in the darkness.

Once Locke hit the main hallway, he paused. This was where everything deviated and the stairs leading to the second floor were supposed to be around here. Mostly, he was thankful he could still remember the map Tolten had shown him the other night and also which way they'd gone to get upstairs before; he didn't need to waste time by wandering around getting lost.
However, since this was the largest hall on this floor, he knew he had to act with a little more caution; who knew what might be going on with the others traveling through here and there were always other threats to consider. Plus, Locke had to remember he was unarmed. If he found himself in some situation now, he'd be hard pressed to get out of it with only minor injuries.

Despite having no earthly idea of where she should start to look for the Head Doctor, Donna definitely knew where to go in order to find someone who could help her towards that endeavor. The big hallway, or the first of them in any case. Donna followed the way there by heart, letting her boots kick the floor extra hard as she strut along, full of confidence. It didn't matter that she was, as always, a human and as unarmed as when she'd first arrived; Donna Noble didn't let this place get to her, and she was not going to let anyone see that she was scared.
Coming to the hallway, she sent a look around and found someone travelling alone, a guy by his looks. "Hey," she called, knowing it wouldn't hurt to ask, "Any ideas on where Landel parks his pompous arse around here? I'm looking to get an appointment."
Subtle though her question was, Donna would be fine if the guy didn't have any clue because that would just be too easy.

He hadn't really given it much thought, but going to see if he could find Landel was something that Locke realized he was interested in doing. Though...there wasn't much sense in trying to confront the guy without being armed, so his mission for tonight took priority for him.
"What're you gonna do if you find him?"

And speaking of idiots... Donna's attention fell back to the blonde when he put a question to her. Without much pause, she smiled and said, "Thought I'd ask him out for tea." Then the smile fell and she folded her arms. "Whaddya think I'm gunna do?! I'm hoping to plant my boot a mile into his backside the moment I find him!"
Who needed weapons when you had designer boots?

When Erika rounded the corner, only to find no trace of the green haired boy (not that he would be waiting around for her to show up, would he?), it was like that was the last straw. No, she was not going to waste time looking for the stupid brat and giving him the satisfaction of having her run around for him like some headless chicken. She had far more better things to do with her time, didn't she?! She didn't need Sync to do anything tonight, and there were plenty of other fish in this damned metaphorical pond to pick from ( ... )

There was one person who looked promising, a man who was puzzling over a piece of paper. He didn't look like he was in a hurry, at least, which was good enough for the ex-detective. Erika strolled over, trying to at least look non-threatning as she shined her flashlight on the man's paper to catch his attention.
“Sorry, but I noticed that you look a little lost. Do you need some help?” Erika did not want another ally who she had to use blackmail as leverage over, so she chose her words carefully to try and appear helpful and courteous for once. Honey instead of vinegar and all of that.

Well, not that many people around yet. Niikura went up and down the western section of the hall twice just to make sure that he hadn't missed someone standing in the shadows before moving over to the wall himself and settling against it with a sigh. It was stupidly relieving to know that Shiina hadn't been standing out here by herself, although he didn't doubt that someone would've come to help had she been attacked by something. It was just that...that person wouldn't have been him.
Ugh, what was he even thinking? This time, Niikura really did smack himself lightly on the forehead. "Get it together," he hissed under his breath. They were going to be okay. He could keep all of his promises for sure.

Shou was always easy to spot if you knew what to look for; that spiky, white hair was the first give-away. Shiina found herself smiling and relaxing a bit more, skipping up to him in an almost care-free way.
"Hey there, stranger," she greeted, moving the bat from her side to rest up against her shoulder. She could afford to be a little silly now that Shou was around. He could do anything. "Is Mike-san joining us again tonight?"

He looked down the hall, watching for Mike. "Aye, he should be coming. We gotta have back-up, y'know. Make the goin' a little easier." Now if the other man could just get here some time like oh, right about now, they'd be all set to go...

Sidling up a bit closer, Shiina took a place against the wall beside him and kept her own eyes open for their comrade. She hoped he wasn't having difficulties with monsters again tonight while they were here waiting for him and still relatively safe. That would just be cruel.
"Glad to know you aren't chancing this place solo," Shiina remarked honestly. If he had attempted the same routine he had back home here she would have to have questioned his sanity. Working by oneself here wasn't an option, not even for a Shou.

Turning around the corner, Hakkai came out into the main hallway. It had been easy to check for danger in the narrower room block hallways. Out here, however, he was more exposed, and he tensed, slipping into a guard stance without even thinking about it. Ready to fight, if something came. His stomach was in knots, too - he was beginning to think this meeting was a bad idea. Too revealing. He could turn back now, and go wait for Carter. He hadn't given a name. But at the same time - he was curious. Curious to know if this other person had any news of home. And he really did hate to give up, too.

"I mostly did my talking with others off the board," Ilia admitted. She set her face grimly, her booted feet making a soft tap against the ground as she marched ahead.
"I haven't heard much because apparently people can't say much. All they can say is that it isn't good." Claude and Anise had weighed in with dark opinions. Something bad was going to happen tonight. She didn't want any part of it, but she was never going to abandon the kids.

"I've made some notes about it. A bit of a guide, in draft form. If the worst happens, it will stand as verbal witness."
Or it would be carefully excised from existence. It would be an interesting question, albeit one she would never know the answer to.

"Would you like some paper? I seem to have plenty."
Whether or not Ilia took some, she could work on her own notes while they waited.
"I think the challenge would have been different if you'd gone through the door first. Those beasts weren't familiar to you, were they?" The ogres seemed a game-specific construct -- while the name hankered back to myths and legends that might also find their origins in the game, their specific form hadn't quite matched the stories, even before the player attributes were instantiated.
