Night 59: Autopsy Room 1

Lana kept talking as she pushed open the autopsy room door and stepped in. "Would you like any knives? They were more effective, strangely enough, on the creature last night than bullets." She'd thrown the one she had, but there were more where it had come from -- in fact, precisely where it had come from, down to the position in ( Read more... )

If Skye was grieving, she hid it well and Badd didn't push her.

"I'll take what I can get. I haven't had a chance to test this on any of the monsters." He shakes his paper cutter blade. Badd used his weapons far more as threats than as killing instruments, but he doubted the monsters would respond to a firm 'Police! Get on the ground!'. He filled his trenchcoat pockets with blades, two for himself and two for Byrne. Byrne still had his gun but he had no experience with firing it.

Her thoughts had been running along similar lines. "It's rather difficult to reason with things that have less intelligence than the entire past year of Global Studio's output." It had looked more suited to a movie set -- a horror movie, where the budget for costumes had either not existed to begin with, or had been squandered on something other than the acting or the sets. "Whatever it was, you don't want to run into one. It was half-dead before it attacked, and it just kept coming."

"In fact, I'm surprised we've gone so long undisturbed. Was there anywhere you wanted to go tonight?" They'd done what they'd come to do. Now all Lana wanted to do was to go home and find Ema and possibly one of those movies she'd just been maligning. As that wasn't terribly practical, the least she could do was offer Badd her help in return for his.

Badd shook his head, apathetic. "Not really." His main destination had been 'away from Byrne' and that had been accomplished nicely. Skye and her mission had been an excuse. At least this way he wasn't hiding in the kitchen or skulking the courtyard on pretense of exploration. Tomorrow morning would be the hardest, they'd be stuck in the same room for hours.

"I should...probably get back to my room, really." Before the hallucinations kicked in, or they did something worse to his head. Before anyone died who ought not to have died.

[from here]The next room was small, dark despite the obnoxious pink glow that seemed to cover every inch of the place, and reeked of rot and antiseptic even more than the room before. More polished metal tables, more gleaming tiled floors dulled by the odd dim light. On the other end of the room was another door. Whatever he'd heard probably came from the other side ( ... )
