The next room was small, dark despite the obnoxious pink glow that seemed to cover every inch of the place, and reeked of rot and antiseptic even more than the room before. More polished metal tables, more gleaming tiled floors dulled by the odd dim light. On the other end of the room was another door. Whatever he'd heard probably came from the other side.
Raph paused again, listening hard. After a few more seconds of silence, another muffled screech echoed from beyond, followed by a hollow, rhythmic clang of metal. He had no clue what it was, but it definitely sounded like somebody could be in there. Whoever it was, they were probably in trouble.
This time, the door was locked, but it seemed like it could give with a good kick. Or maybe he could cut the Rambo crap and remember he was a ninja for once, use the element of surprise in a way that wouldn't make Splinter want to whap him upside the head. Yeah, much as he loved breaking stuff, picking the lock was a better idea. Besides, with all this medical crud around there had to be something useful in those cabinets.
He took a moment to rifle through the drawers, sifting through all sorts of nasty-looking instruments until he found a metal tray filled with dissecting needles. Perfect. In less than a minute he'd jimmied the lock free with nothing more than a satisfying Click.
