Well, nothing had changed much since he'd left this hall only a few minutes ago. That was good. The less blood they had to walk through, the better. Shiina might have already died once, but that didn't make it any less traumatic--in fact, it could make it worse. Sometimes the smell of blood was enough to trigger unpleasant memories...Niikura had enough of them to the point where the effect was moot, but when the experience of death was still relatively fresh in the mind...
"So, how was your day?" Might as well keep the atmosphere light while he could, even as he kept an eye on the shadows around them. "Meet anyone interesting? I think that's one of the few things I like about this place: the people don't lack for variety."

The dark hallways were still oppressive, however, so Shiina made an effort to walk quickly. Just a little bit faster than was necessary to keep up with Shou's long strides.
