This space was a little wider. There were a few people around, but... well, she could work around them. It wasn't like Rita was an amateur who couldn't control her spells.
There was an empty wall to her right, and so Rita made that her target. She stuffed her flashlight into an outer pocket of her backpack to get it out of the way, and then began to chant. "O flickering blaze... burn!" A red-hot magic circle appeared beneath her feet, with flecks of light rising and floating all around her. Yes! She could use this! Perhaps that energy was mana after all. "Fireball!"
A ball of flame appeared before her outstretched hand, one much larger than the ones she'd conjured during the last week. She fired it at the empty wall, where it exploded with great force.
For the first time since coming to Landel's, Rita was truly elated. "Yes!" she cried with triumph. Her magic was back! It was back, and she was going to make the whole institute and army burn for everything they did to her. Excited at this prospect, she turned and ran to ( ... )
