No, something was different. It wasn't until she reached the next hallway that Anise realized, but she could feel fonons - in the air, and in her body. It took a moment to process this, but as she thought about it, she quickly grew excited. Could this mean

Alright, he'd made it. Niikura stepped away toward the wall as soon as he walked through the entrance to the girls' block. Here was where he'd said he'd meet Utena. Pink hair, pink hair...nope, no one like that walking through yet, although maybe if the walls glowed just right, his could get a little shaded. Not that he wanted pink hair, just that his could do that. Because it was awesome.
His fingers tapped out a sharp staccato beat on his flashlight as the seconds ticked by. Any second now, any second now, any second now...he didn't want to rush, but the truth was that he had two people waiting on him, and Niikura didn't like leaving people hanging, especially since it was looking like tonight was going to hike the danger level up a few notches. Normally, he would've been nonplussed, but with Shiina...okay, it was a little unfair to her, but the truth was that she wasn't a fighter.
[briefly for Utena]

Thankfully, it seemed the person she'd arranged to meet was quick on his feet. A young man stood just inside the entrance to the hall, twin shocks of white hair shaded rosy in the light from the walls. She wasn't sure if it qualified as "awesome" or not, but it was close enough to what she had been told to look for, so that had to be him.
"Niikura?" she asked, jogging up to the young man. As she slowed, she flipped her secondary fencing sword over in her hand, catching it between her fingertips by the flat of the blade and offering it handle first. "There you go. I don't know if it's gonna be enough to handle... whatever it is that's going on right now, but here's hoping it helps."

"Thanks, Utena-san." He smiled grimly and accepted the sword, testing the weight before making a few experimental thrusts. "I'll make do somehow; I like to think I'm pretty resourceful." At the moment, he was just thankful to have something more than his flashlight.
"Anyway, sorry to kinda rush things here, but I gotta get going. Someone's waitin' on me, and y'know, can't keep--" your girl--no, no, no that was wrong. Uh... "--friends waitin' too long." There. That was acceptable. "Thanks again--ya saved me a ton of time tonight. Good luck to ya." Niikura saluted with his free hand and then continued on ( ... )

Utena was just where she said she would be and speaking with a young man. He didn't seem inclined to linger, however, and was already moving away by the time Aigis reached them. He didn't give her a passing glance, but that was fine with Aigis. He was not part of her plans tonight.
"Tenjou-san," Aigis greeted, unable to produce a smile for her friend's benefit. There was too much on her mind distracting her from human niceties. "I am ready for our mission tonight, however, I must say there is definitely much to be feared tonight."
She clutched Yukari's Evoker in her hand, eyes staring forward. "I can feel them. There are dangerous creatures everywhere." Shadows, but not Shadows. It mattered little. Athena was still chomping at the bit to be released upon them, so there was little that distinguished them in Aigis' mind.

Just as Niikura was leaving, Aigis came up behind her. Utena didn't blame her for not smiling. "You're telling me. But we can't let them beat us, even so. Fear never did anyone any good," she said, unconsciously sticking a little closer to the android girl than she normally would. Hearing that there were creatures nearby wasn't exactly something helpful to hear if they were going to beat back their fear tonight, but Utena managed to keep her poise.
"More than usual, I'm guessing?" she asked, eyes trailing down to Aigis's gun. "You've got a weapon too? That's good. The more the better tonight."

"Yes, I'm fully prepared for an attack." The claws left to her from Heat also weighed heavy in her pocket, ready to be pulled out in a moment's notice. Though part of her realized that as long as Athena strained to be free. She had no fatigue, physical or mental, to speak of. She would not need to resort to them for a while.
"Well, then, shall we be off?" Aigis wanted Utena to make the call. If the other girl felt it was better to call off their plans, then she would take her lead. Aigis had always been a follower of a team leader. And Tenjou Utena was definitely a leader type.
