[ from here ... again... ]

There was actually a reason Chipp ran on ahead, which was rare for the impulsive man, and that was because he was certain that there were people here. Not wanting to be ambushed first, Chipp thought it would be a good idea to strike first! That is, he would have, if there actually were people to attack. When he ran out to the hallway, he could no longer hear or feel the presence of anyone else, or at least, that's what it felt like to him.

Was he mistaken? Maybe this area wasn't guarded after all...

"... Uh, yo, Daemon! It's safe to go ahead!" Well, if that was the case, then he could definitely wait around for his companion to catch up. It wasn't like Chipp was planning to run around the place blinded again, if only because while he would have appreciated the training, they had an actual goal to meet. And not a lot of time to do it, so it only made sense to the ninja to make things proceed quickly.

Daemon had no idea what 'Sukiyaki' meant, but apparently Chipp still got the idea, despite the language barriers between them. If he'd been surprised by the man's sudden impulsive dash, he didn't show it on his face, but he did keep up with him, his strides long and holding a predatory gracefulness as his eyes continued to search the darkness they moved through.

"It does look that way," he agreed with a frown, reacquainting himself with his bearings and pausing a moment to consult the map he'd made in his thoughts. He lifted his flashlight and found the doorway he was looking for. "Here. The stairs are here."
