Even though they'd made it clear that it wasn't for the normal things -- experimentation or brainwashing -- he couldn't help but feel both nervous for his roommate and useless over not being able to stop it. But Peter had his own plans for the night

Daemon was ridiculously relieved to find the pole staff reappear in his closet after darkness fell, he'd been hoping he wouldn't have to scavenge for weapons anew. One was missing, however, leaving him with a sole weapon, until he remembered he'd lent the second one to the boy who'd gone spider hunting with him. He hoped John had made good use of it in his time here.

Gathering that, his flashlight, the radio, and a handful of pens - the latter giving him a momentary pang of aching loss that he did his best to stifle, Daemon gave his room one more glance over before heading out.

He had no destination in mind, but he was restless to be moving. He wanted to see how much had changed in his unplanned absence.
