Night 57: Main Hallway, 1-Center

[from here]From here, Vino could go several ways. The frequented Sun Room was the most obvious option, though he could also choose to either go into one of the side doors or continue onward down the hall. If he were an architect, Vino thought, where would he put a radio broadcast room in an insane asylum ( Read more... )

While this hall was usually somewhat crowded, Castiel took note of the fact that everyone here seemed to be on their own. Some were moving forward without delay, others looking at maps, others waiting for their companions to join them. Still, this seemed like a sign that he had picked the right direction.

There was no sound of stirring from the Sun Room at the moment, which meant that Castiel moved right past it. He was always cautious, especially as there was a chance that the area he was moving toward might be guarded. It would make little sense to put an obstacle between the patients and the very thing that they were supposed to test, but Castiel hadn't found that the people in charge here were very logical.

Sparing a quick glance toward the door that led into that Entry Room, Castiel focused on continuing down the hall.

[For Donna.]

"These are not the dummies you're looking for..." Donna drawled to herself as she walked through the next hallway, looking over the patients. There was no sign of the Doctor and his coat, though she had spotted someone wearing a coat sort of in the same way as her spaceman. That alone drew her attention to the guy, but more than that was, unlike others, he seemed to have a bit more focus about where he was heading.

Since he wasn't a little girl, didn't seem to have a babyface by what she could tell in the dark hallway light, and appeared to be heading her way, Donna had the feeling he might make decent company. That was, if he head going where she was.

She sped up her walk just enough to match the man's larger strides and, giving a casual look over at him, gave a smirk. "Heading for the Med Wing too?"

It took Castiel a few moments to realize that the woman who was walking at his side was intending to speak with him. He glanced over at her, taking in the red hair and her out of the ordinary clothing. It wouldn't have been something he would have looked at twice while normally moving around Earth-side, but in this place an outfit from home could mean brainwashing.

Which made him wonder: what had Gabriel been wearing when he had been under the institute's spell?

Not that it mattered at this point. The fact that the woman wasn't contained to one room and seemed to be just as interested in the newly opened area made it clear that she wasn't a threat. He nodded in response, wondering where this might lead. "I am, yes. The risk offered is great, but it could be worth the result."

Well wasn't that a response. Just as focused as the guy's pace, and more precise than Donna was used to. Though really? She shouldn't have had a reason to complain for it. At least she'd been able to understand him without sifting through loads of babbling and about ten too many "Wells..." at the start of half-formed thoughts ( ... )

That analogy seemed to fit just as well. The woman was right that this might be a trap or a test of sorts. Castiel was well aware of this, and yet it didn't bother him. He had walked into traps before. He had broken the rules, taken someone's plan and thrown it out the window. If that was what he had to do here as well, then he would. It was the only lead he really had at this point, after all ( ... )
