Night 57: Main Hallway, 1-West

Jul 14, 2011 13:08

[ from here ]As Erika approached the meeting spot, she was pleased to see that she was, indeed, first to reach there. This was to be expected: Erika was closest to this particular hallway and she could have given the others a minute's head start and still probably beat them while walking at a leisurely pace. But Erika had hurried to get here and ( Read more... )

It was before long when Seishin entered the main hallway, though it was about as empty as those he had traveled through prior. It was here that he paused, sweeping his flashlight in various directions as he decided where to go next. In retrospect, it probably would have been better had he decided on a direction before leaving his room, but alas, there wasn't anything he could do about it right now.

The former priest knew how to reach the Sun room from here, but there was hardly any reason for going towards a lounge. The rest of the institute was unknown to him, so unknown that he had no idea where to even begin.

[For Celty!]

[from jere]

After a few hallways of thinking rather than paying attention to where exactly she was going, Celty came to a larger hallway and was snapped back to reality by the amount of activity that was happening. That was right, she had heard something like a hint over the intercom, if the man's voice had taken a backseat to her own thoughts. It made sense that so many people would be out.

She took some time to watch as groups met and patients went on by her before realizing that they hadn't given up. The day was one thing, but the night? They are least had the ability to fight their captivity. So even if Celty did not truly understand what had happened with Shinra, she at least knew that giving up made no sense. She still needed answers, if for different things now. She had to press on.

Grasping her fists before her with a boost of confidence, Celty turned her head left and started for the middle hallway. She still knew which way was out, and out had to mean some answers to at least where the heck she was!

People came and went as time passed, sometimes gathering in groups before leaving for other parts of the building. If anything, it made this area look like some sort of meeting spot among patients before leaving for purposes unknown. But the observation wouldn't help the former priest. Seishin didn't know how long he had remained here in his uncertainty, but it would hardly get him the answers he needed. He had to keep walking, even if he did not know where the path would lead him ( ... )

Determination was a good thing when there was nothing in her way. Unfortunately though, something was in her way this time, in the form of another patient that she really should have noticed. She no longer had the excuse of not having eyes anymore. But still, she went and slammed right into the stranger, pushing him forward and sending her right back with a start of her own.

She shook her head first then looked up, eyes wide that she had managed to do something so silly, not to mention embarrassing! Who did that anyway?! Crashing into another person without watching where they were going? She wasn't supposed to be so clumsy!

And with the other patient asking if she was all right, she could just feel the sensation of blushing rising into her cheeks. Her hands came up quickly. "Oh no! I mean yes but... I'm so sorry!" she babbled out, waving her hands a bit before eventually falling into a bow.

She really hoped no one else had seen that.

Well then.

Harvey had figured he'd be one of the first of the group to make it here, but he hadn't imagined he'd be the very first. He was sure that some of the others were in the closer patient block, so maybe they were just taking their sweet time. Or taking care with deciding what to bring with them; that was a possibility too ( ... )

Dent was already here, and he'd also come prepared: Indy noticed the gleam of an axe leaned up against the wall. As he got closer, he also saw the gun wedged into the waistband of Dent's military pants. Good to know he wasn't the only one anticipating trouble.

"Evening," he said simply, joining Dent on one side of the hall.

Two axes, a handgun, a whip, and a fucking fedora. S.T. felt less like he was overcompensating for his lack of spandex and superpowers. All he had was a two-foot length of pipe and a spray bottle of a highly basic liquid. Everyone knew what acid did to eyes, but bases hurt just as much. Wasn't strong enough to dissolve anything other than dead skin, but he hadn't brought it along for a little exfoliation pow-wow.

He was still limping slightly as he walked up, and didn't try to hide it. Dent only had half a face. They could deal with a taxi driver with the usual bad attitude and a trick knee.

"Anyone know what we're heading into? Least it shouldn't be too crowded." The drug trials, for all that he'd scoffed, would be a full house. Give people a choice and they dumped anything they could get into their bodies. Limit them, and they smuggled extra creamers out from IHOP in their underwear just to prove they could.

As Sora entered the main hall, something occurred to him. While he had to meet with Aigis before finding Kratos and Kairi, the meeting spot was still the same. That meant that he had still made it first, right? Even if he had something to take care of first, he was pretty sure it still counted. Kairi might try to argue otherwise, but he was definitely going to stand his ground ( ... )

Aigis approached the meeting place with trepidation growing in her heart. She held back all the pain she could, just keeping her mind objective. She could not allow these human-like emotions to push her off the edge when business needed to be taken care of. Tears, or whatever her feelings would manifest, could happen later. For now, she needed to find the boy with blue eyes and spiky brown hair.

There were a lot of people in this hallway, giving Aigis plenty of faces to consider. However, only one person stood out immediately as having truly spiky hair. She wasn't sure if it was quite brown or black, however. Her light had dimmed to an almost useless level.

Taking a chance, Aigis stepped forward and gave a polite bow of her head. "Hello. Am I correct in believing that you are Sora-san?"

Having asked the question, Aigis finally took a moment to actually look at the boy in front of her. His youth saddened her. How cruel were these people, to trap a boy of his age in this place. It truly was despicable.

It didn't take long for a girl to approach him and the red ribbon immediately gave her away. Sora moved away from the wall and grabbed for his pillowcase in response, nodding to her question. "That's me, yeah. You're Aigis?" She had to be, but it seemed most polite to ask ( ... )

"Yes, I am Aigis," she replied, stepping a little closer. She sensed no thread about the boy, so she was quite certain he would not attack her. Since her run-in with Aidou a few nights ago, she had become mistrustful of unknowns met at night.

Hearing that Sora was not overly-acquainted with Minato actually helped her keep up a strong front. He would not be miserably sad with his loss as someone closer might have been, and she would not be expected to share in his sorrow. Seeing someone else fall apart would only cause her grief to come to the fore much too soon. "I thank you, Sora-san."

Aigis took the evoker carefully in hand, holding it to her like a very precious thing. It was precious, for it had belonged to her dear friend. Her voice softened, and she sucked in a shaky breath. "Really, thank you."

[from here ... also presumably handwaving Sora being here]There was one other thing: he needed someone knowledgeable enough to tell him what was up. Was the only change a new guy in charge who offered rewards for following his quests? The tips from before all seemed fishy, and that was why Riku had made it a goal to sort through them and figure out what was relevant. If something was irrelevant, there was no point to the club looking after it. With awards in place, there seemed to be more of a point in going after them. But would this all turn into the same thing as before? Was it all a wild goose chase? Had enough days even passed to be able to tell? The one thing he noticed, though, was that this seemed like a first time deal. That was an important factor ( ... )

[from here ... and handwaving a sibling...]

The boy trod into the hall leisurely, eying the details of the shotgun closely, holding it near to see it well in the half-light. For the man having it in his possession for two days, it actually seemed like he hadn't touched it. How... truly surprising. The different aspects of the people here were starting to become interesting, and really--what else was there to focus on? Of course Albedo would try these concoctions tonight--there was little else to do, and at any rate, he had received enough of chemicals against his will here, might as well gain some of his own efforts. As if he would be concerned on the well-being of his body. To his knowing, there was no reason to think that he would internally heal any different. Outward regeneration might have slowed, but....

Ah, but that was not the point to make. He'd do well to gain some toys here, if he wasn't to kill Klavier for a time being. That girl was missing, Albedo had looked, so there was little to occupy his attentions towards. Peter ( ... )

The clicking sound wasn't so far from him, so it wasn't difficult to catch Riku's attention. His fingers slid fast around his flashlight and he flicked the switch to turn the light onto Albedo. It wasn't the familiar face that he noticed, though, but the rounds and the gun itself. Compared to his bat (and his hidden, but still not fully tested within the boundaries of this place, keyblade), it was far more useful. Riku himself had never used one, but he'd seen enough along the way. This guy was small, but that didn't mean he couldn't hold his own. And with the way he was loading that weapon ( ... )

Like before, the weight was easily managed--it was the mass and awkward length that would place his accuracy less. If possible, he'd do well to accompany Yomi to Doyleton again, and see if there were things other than an oversized, out of date, limited ammunition weapon to be found. He was staring at it, not amused at what he had been reduced to, when his eyes registered motion nearby. His gaze flicked up, watching as a person approached him, not, perhaps, that much older but ( ... )

Of course Badd got there first, that was always the way of such things. He was straightforward, Byrne got distracted. It was nothing to worry about. He'd just wait for him at his usual glowering spot on the wall.

They'd taken Badd's watch and cell phone, leaving him no other way to measure the time than his own steady pacing in figure eights across the floor. One two three turn, one two three turn, a half-second passing at each step while his paper cutting swung like a grandfather clock's pendulum at his side.

It wasn't that far between any given prison block. Badd's idle mind turned back to the letter and to Aguilar's words, and to the rumors of what 'sleep studies' really were. They'd punish the unruly and reward the obedient by giving them what they wished for. They knew what Badd loved and what he hated, and they knew what he'd do anything to protect. And now they had a motive for getting inside Badd's heart and manipulating him into their schemes.

Those bastards. They'd taken Byrne.
