Night 57: M-A Block Hallway

[from here]He slipped silently down the hallway, flashlight (turned off) in hand, as he couldn't fit it into a pocket with both the bulky radio as well as the gun. A hassle, but bearable. Having a portable source of light handy with him while wandering dark corridors was actually rather helpful, even if normally, Vino wouldn't have bothered with it ( Read more... )

What was it they were progressing towards? That had been one of the key questions for the entirety of his stay here, and the one that had pressed at him the most insistently since the coup. Aguilar had been dropping hints here and there since he'd begun to speak publically, and his choice in words and options was as telling tonight as it ever had been. Perhaps more so.

The longer you last, the more valuable you are to me and my men: that was the crux of the matter, he guessed. Where did the value come from? Was there some unseen influence working on the patients here, gradually changing them? Lunge hadn't seen any obvious differences in himself, and he hadn't seen any reported on the bulletin board, but there was the chance that it was only obvious to those in control. There was Lunge, waiting already, just at the end of the corridor.

As L approached, he said, "Change of plans?

"I'm not saying I want to participate in Aguilar's test. That would be idiotic. However, given that we have no way of knowing whether or not that area will be open again after tonight, it might be worth taking a look around."

Flexible as ever. They couldn't possibly forgo the opportunity to look around tonight. Lunge smiled without humour and nodded, clicking his flashlight back on in preparation for the journey. It wasn't far to the theorised location of the medical wing.

Expecting L to fall in step with him as always- or the other way around, depending on who moved first, there was still no real sense of one leading and the other following in any consistent sense- he began to make his way out of the hallway. "Of course. There are other ways to get a weapon here- my roommate has one- and the pin system is frankly distracting. It's fairly obvious that whatever he's left there isn't going to be useful from anything but an observational point of view."
