Night 56: Recreational Field

[From here.]

Guy's boots crunched in the snow as he walked onto the powdered field, though it was clear just from the tracks that he spotted in it that a number of people had been this way already. Had there been any fights? Was something waiting out in the dark and the cold for them?

He was going to have to assume that was the case, mainly for the sake of being thorough and not allowing himself to be taken by surprise. He closed the door once both Claude and Anise had exited, and then nodded to the wall that was to their right.

"Let's stick to the wall." Once they reached a part that looked climbable, Guy wasn't going to waste any time getting up and over. As it turned out, there was nothing Guy could have done to stop their attacker from hitting Claude in the gut, and he watched his friend stumble back in pain. It seemed that it hadn't been hard enough of a hit to make the man fall over, at least, and so Guy knew that he needed to move fast.

Claude was one step ahead of him, though. He pulled out that gun; Guy had seen him carrying it around before, but this was the first time that he'd ever seen it fired. He shielded his eyes when the bright flash burst forth and took a few steps back, but when he opened his eyes the brainwashed patient was still standing. It seemed that even a gun wasn't going to be enough to put this guy down.

Anise had finally gotten the chance to deploy an Arte of hers, though, and Guy made sure to give the man an even wider birth as the dark flames assaulted him. That seemed to do the trick, but the man was only out of commission for a short time. Guy really didn't know what he was babbling on about, but it hardly mattered when the next thing he did was toss ( ... )
