Day 56: Bus 2

May 20, 2011 12:24

It was hard for Guy to believe that a farfetched idea of his might actually work out in the end, seeing how rare that was in this place. Still, he had found the leather and had been allowed to buy it, which meant that the toughest part at this point would be finding tools to work with and also blocking out enough time to work on making the sheath. It didn't surprise Erika that they would be searched and have their possessions taken before boarding the bus, especially since they were given the liberty to freely purchase things in the first place. The combination of having respectable eating utensils, food, and her precious secret weapon finally obtained was enough to have Erika comply with the search without too many complaints, and then she practically skipped to her seat when all was said and done ( ... )

Hearing his voice called out from behind him caused Guy to pause merely out of manners, but it didn't take long for him to realize who it was, even though it had been a week since he'd seen or heard this girl ( ... )

Unfortunately for Guy, whatever good day he might've had was about to go sour any moment.

Sync had been sitting nearby Erika when he caught sight of the swordsman stepping onto the bus. That'd been his cue to duck out of sight, and while this originally had been a solo operation he was almost pleasantly surprised to find the other teen going for the exact same target. Well, if that was how it was going to be, then why couldn't he take advantage of their good luck?

That meant making his move while Guy was distracted by his other company. Without so much as a warning Sync moved to shove the blond into the seat where Erika was sitting, immediately following that by sitting on the other side so that Guy was sandwiched between them. And it was only then did he pull back until he was sitting comfortably, offering a grin to the two occupants before him.

"Mind if I sit next to you two?"

Erika couldn't say that she planned for this. She only wanted to tease Guy a little, but the next thing she knew, the blond ended up being shoved into the seat (and consequently, against her) while a very familiar voice piped up for permission that was already taken to sit. Really, if it had been anything else, Erika might have started complaining. Instead, she just shrugged. Did Sync have something to tell her, or... She quirked an eyebrow, entertaining the possibility that Guy was also a favorite bullying victim of Sync's. If only she knew the whole truth behind those two, she might have been besides herself with glee ( ... )

Before Guy could fully register what was going on, there was a flurry of action. First, someone grabbed for him and ended up shoving him right toward the very girl that he was trying to avoid. It happened too quickly for him to resist, and he was in the seat in seconds. Erika's seat, that is. They were shoulder to shoulder. She was leaning toward him -- no, toward whoever had done this --

His mind scrambled as he focused his attention on Sync, his heart pounding with fear and anger, his body unsure of how to respond for a good few seconds. He was caught between a rock and a hard place, between someone he absolutely could not be this close to and someone who he wanted to kill.

But then the fear kicked in full force. Guy struggled to not make a sound -- he'd already done that once today, with Natalia, and didn't need to repeat that disaster in a crowded bus. But his body tensed and then started to shake and every instinct was screaming at him to get awayThat would require more or less crawling over Sync, though, which wasn't ( ... )

While Guy's body was still registering the situation, Sync occupied himself by focusing his attention on Erika. Troller's intuition indeed ( ... )

Sure enough, Guy's reaction didn't fail her - she could tell, since she was so close, that Guy was struggling not to scream or react in a way that would embarrass himself on the entire bus, and she couldn't even bother to hide her amused grin. Sync really had a way of making himself useful at the most opportune moments, a skill that impressed even more. She might not have had her furniture here, but Sync was a good enough replacement ( ... )

While Guy realized that both Sync and Erika were talking -- to him or to each other -- he could barely register the words at this point. His blood was pounding in his ears, in time with his heartbeat which was completely out of control by now. If Sync wasn't careful, Guy was just going to lash out and end up hurting one of them, probably Erika. While the girl had a nasty enough attitude that it might be deserved, the chivalrous part of him didn't want to harm her.

No, he just wanted to get away, and so even as Sync tried to keep him in place by pushing back against him and holding down his foot, Guy felt his strength increase due to sheer panic.

He half-stood in the seat and then started to push at Sync's shoulder with both hands, intending to shove him right out of the seat. He realized how bad this would look to anyone watching, especially since Sync looked so young, but hopefully everyone would realize simply by his reaction that he was the one being tormented here.

Sync had intended to keep chatting with Erika like nothing was wrong, but Guy was making it harder to multitask with each passing second. In a way he was enjoying the challenge, but it was obvious that the blond's struggles were eventually going to best him if they kept this up for any longer.

Like now. Unfortunately, Sync had lost his footing, stumbling forward so that he had to catch himself in the next seat or else he'd end up on the floor. For a moment the God-General scowled when he glanced over over his shoulder, but it was short-lived. He quickly replaced it with an amused smirk, trying to lean back into his new seat like he'd done it all on purpose.

"You can say that, but I can't say I've ever seen him this pushy."

The struggle she was witnessing was extremely amusing, even if Erika was vaguely aware of how close she was to getting elbowed in the face. So the detective was pressed up against the bus wall, though she was extremely tempted to jon in. The problem was that touching Guy was probably going to escalate the situation to the point where somebody was going to get hurt, and the detective had no interest in risking herself to be that somebody. Boring, but it looked like the struggle was going to end soon ( ... )

When Guy finally overpowered Sync and sent him stumbling into the opposite seat, he couldn't help but feel victorious when he was sent a glare in return. The God-General worked to cover up his irritation as quickly as possible, but just seeing it for a split second was enough to make Guy feel a bit better about all this.

The two of them were still trying to talk over him as if they were completely in control, and he knew that he was being patronized, but at this point he didn't care. The moment that he had that opening, Guy moved out of the seat and away from Erika, into the aisle.

Granted, it wasn't like he could go that far without coming across another girl, and at this point his best bet was to retreat to the back of the bus. "You'll see me even more pushy if you keep this up," he snapped at Sync, and without a second's delay he started to move away from the pair and down the aisle.
