NIGHT 55: WEST WING, HALL 2-A

Really, if she was going to make any progress in hunting around, she was going to need to check everything -- and while that didn't necessarily include the hallway where she'd hallucinated everyone dying, for the time being, it did include every door that she came across. So, she automatically tried the first one on her left. The lock didn't want to budge, exactly, but once she put a little enthusiasm into it, it seemed to give a little. So, she stepped back and tucked her flashlight into her pocket temporarily. It glowed through her slacks, but not enough to give off real light. She'd just have to hope she hit the doorknob on her swing.

She gripped her bat with both hands and -- well, okay, admittedly it took a couple to hit the right spot, which was something she'd definitely omit from this story when she told it to anyone else. If she told this story to anyone else, that was. There was a sound of metal breaking and she dropped the bat to her side, releasing it with one hand so she could get her flashlight back out. Fixing it on the doorknob, she saw that it had opened and she slowly pushed the door in, heading inside.
