Nightshift 55: M-B Block Hallway

[From here.]It felt good to not be a useless lump of wounded-ness. Peter stretched his shoulder a bit, lifting and rotating. Not even a twinge left behind. Nice. Better than nice. If he could take just one thing home from this whole mess of terror and insanity, it would be the healing rate. Maybe it would peg him as a mutant-thing when his ( Read more... )

There wasn't much to see in this narrow area other than a pair of patients who Zack was almost certain he'd noticed around here on other nightshifts -- their rooms had to be nearby, and maybe they had made a habit of meeting up each night. That was a nice thing to have going, and Zack almost wished he could establish something like that with Cloud. But with Tifa and Yuffie around, it wasn't like he could hog him.

Still, this was a place where they could at least try to play out the dream he'd come up with. Mercenaries, they could work together without having to worry about anyone telling them what to do -- or turning their back on them, for that matter. He wondered if Cloud remembered. He'd have to ask.

Either way, with nothing of interest around, all he had to focus on was getting a move on, and so Zack broke into a brisk jog down the hall.

[from here]Kirk's stride slowed as he turned the corner, and he panned his flashlight around to check for danger. He hadn't seen a creature ambush within the patient blocks in over a week, but he knew it could happen. Still, nothing moved here but other prisoners headed out for the night. It was unsettling to see the usual glimpses of grey sweats replaced by crisp shirts and dark pants, although a fair many appeared to have also switched theirs out for more comfortable clothing, like he had ( ... )

There were people out in this hallway too, and Wally bit back an irritated groan as he kept moving past them at a run. It really figured that tonight, when he really couldn't afford to run too much, there would be people around to comment on the guy in red spandex suddenly appearing out of a certain hall. At least when he was running, he could have been anything.

Luckily he was pretty sure the next hallway would be a lot less suspicious to slow down in on the off-chance he was spotted, so it wasn't that much further.

He slowed to a fast walk, allowing his eyes to glean the occupants' traits briefly before striding effortlessly toward his destination. Nothing appeared to have occurred in this area that could be considered out of the ordinary. No outside danger, then. And Nigredo doubted his brother had the same issue in regards to roommates.

There was one problem to this 'change in the washroom' theory and that was the only washroom in the area belonged to the men. Grell paused as he entered the main hallway connecting all the dormitories and frowned, eying the door. It didn't seem to be opened, but to think of the indecency! A woman going into the men's loo? What if someone saw him? Or worse, walked in on him? He supposed there had to be stalls, but...

"Tsk." But if changing there meant saving himself the greater indignity of having more people see him dressed like this? Perhaps he'd suffer through the pain of going into the men's room. While he didn't mind a man in uniform, Grell had never much thought it suited his figure. A lady should always dress to suit her figure and accentuate her features, and this military uniform did none of that for Grell.

With a sigh, the death god decided to just finish this mess up quickly before anyone had a chance to catch him. Even if it meant changing there at least he'd have his game face on for the evening ( ... )

How refreshing to finally be back to normal. Grell sighed as he left the restroom, sliding a hand over his shoulder to toss his hair back. Free of the uniform and back to the familiar feel of nice fabrics and a fitted waistcoat, the death god felt so much better. He could even ignore the dull ache in his shoulder from his injuries last night and the dissatisfaction at not having his powers yet again. The strange feeling from last night, however, lingered. Like the beginnings of an old song one just couldn't recall the words or the tune for, the sense that he was almost upon something pulled at the edges of his consciousness ( ... )
