DAY 55: Sun Room [2nd Shift]

Mar 13, 2011 03:36

[ from here ]Either she was the only unlucky person to experience a freezing shower, or she just hadn't built up the tolerance for it that the more seasoned patients had. Whichever it was, she was the first person into the sun room and while normally she wouldn't mind that, the soldiers were majorly creepy and she was kind of hoping for some kind ( Read more... )

[from here]Aigis, still slightly damp from her rushed shower, walked into the still quite empty Sun Room and looked up. Snow. She could see the snow building upon the glass at a sleepy pace and was reminded of the time back home. How many more days until Nyx was scheduled to come down upon them? Or was it that the time had already come to pass? Junpei and Minato hadn't come from her own time and there was no indication that the time here was the same as it was at home. But it was winter and that was enough to place the once-android on edge ( ... )

[handwaving showers for the sake of getting this backthread started :v]

The shower would have felt a million times nicer if she had, you know, eaten before it, but at least it had come to feel somewhat refreshing; enough that Yukari was beginning to feel better after having to do the kind of dirty task of cleaning. She couldn't claim that she exerted a lot of effort into the task, but whatever. Uniform back on (which still wasn't her preferred choice of clothing, but it was still so much better than those dingy, grey things they had to wear), Yukari decided she was going to do what she had wanted to do from the start; kick back and chill for a bit.

Speaking of chill... as she looked up and around at the windows, Yukari had noticed-- was it snowing? Well, that was kind of nice, she supposed; it wasn't something that happened all too much, so even in such an awful place as Landel's (wait, did one still call this place 'Landel's'?), the sight was still serene in its own way. She wondered if it was sticking to the ground outside ( ... )

Aigis looked up at the familiar call of her name, rousing from her darker thoughts and back into the daylight of the institute. Yukari had taken a seat before her. Aigis readjusted herself to sit up and better face her friend.

"I am looking at the snow." She responded automatically. Then she shook her head and sighed, looking down at her hands in her lap. "Actually, I was thinking. They were not pleasant thoughts."

She took a deep breath and allowed a smile to tug into place, hoping to set her friend at ease. "It is nice to see you again, Yukari-san. I trust you had no troubles last night?" Certainly she would have been fine. She had the Evoker, after all. She had the power to heal and attack, and Aigis couldn't help but feel just a little jealous of the added security. What did it take to find another of those Evokers in this place?

[From here.]The whole ordeal with the soldiers hardly affected him compared to most, though that may have been because his own had been more pleasant than what he'd witnessed from others so far. Granted, Sync doubted that'd affect his opinion either way; tools knew their place, so any luxury was just what it was ( ... )

[From here.]

As much as Roxas wanted to go outside, he realized he had more important things to do... like find Neku. Of course, if Neku wasn't inside at first, he could go outside and look for him. Probably. Maybe the soldier guy who was leading him around wouldn't be too happy with the request, but he didn't care.

Either way, it didn't matter past the threshold of the sun room. Roxas took the room in at a glance, his eyes darting over the small assembly of patients already there. He had to push his flattened hair out of his eyes several times to see, but he spotted his roommate easily enough, talking to someone in a chair that he hadn't met before. A weight seemed to lift off his chest, letting him breathe easier. Neku looked OK, at least from what Roxas could see.

What happened to him last night? He wanted to ask, but he didn't want to interrupt his meeting with someone else. It could be really important, and interruptions always were... awkward ( ... )

Given how popular the bulletin board was as a whole, Sync had expected someone to come up after enough time passed. However, while most people kept to themselves, he was mildly surprised to find that one in particular was offering to help him. Maybe it was because they just wanted him to rush and get out of the way? He wasn't exactly new to that kind of treatment, though upon first impressions the kid looked like he was too fragile to even harm a kitten.

"I doubt we'd find much," Sync began as he glanced over to the blond, offering a sheepish grin. He was a bit taller than him, though he doubted he was physically older. "I'm pretty sure everyone else is as lost as the next person."

There were some things that were obvious, but if he'd learned anything since his stay here it was that all of that could turn around in the blink of an eye. For all they knew, this could just be some act that Landel himself was directing just to see how they'd react to this sudden shift in 'power'. At this point he wouldn't really put it past the guy.

"Yeah, that's true..." Roxas brought his hand under his chin, cradling it as he turned back to the board. His blue eyes darted around, trying to pinpoint anything familiar - maybe Ruby's writing, or Goku's (kind of; last time he'd talked to Goku on the board he could barely even read what he was writing), or even one of Sora's Arts & Crafts announcements. Nothing so far... he'd have to check back later. "I tried to talk to the soldier guy that was leading me around, and he wouldn't even talk to me."

As true as that was, it was really annoying, especially since no one would explain why he was getting that kind of treatment. He hadn't gotten involved with that food fight thing, and he'd helped clean it up anyway. Maybe it had to do with this metal thing on his neck? The first time Roxas has asked what was going on, the man had pointed to the necklace and faced forward again.

"I guess it sounds kind of dumb to say I liked the nurses better, but at least they talked to me."

Since when did it snow this time of year...? Normally, Battler probably would have gone out to screw around in it, but this could hardly be called normal. ... If he wanted anything at all, it was a quiet place where he could think and try to make sense of things. Not much had happened yet, but in what little that had, he was fining far more questions than answers. ... Of course, he wasn't naïve enough to think everything would come all once. If he focused on too much at once, he was only going to get overwhelmed. But if he was to narrow his viewpoint, then to what? How was he supposed to know what was most important ( ... )

[ troooooolllll in the sun room. ]Though Erika initially came here to check the Bulletin Board and gather information about last night, all those plans fell to the wayside when she spotted a familiar mass of red hair, by the corner of the room. It wasn't like Erika had decided she had nothing to do with Battler ever since she found out that he didn't remember anything past the middle of the fifth game - it was just that Battler had been a very hard man to find in this mass of people, even when Erika was trying. So she wasted no time in swooping down on her prey, edging towards him like a spider edging towards some stupid fly that got caught in its net because it didn't bother to look around first ( ... )

Last night had been a disaster. They had needed that extra person and he had not come and now they were sent into the day empty-handed, injuries being the only evidence of their trek upstairs. At least now Okita knew what to expect. He should have known that soldiers would replace the nurses everywhere, but it still came as a bit of a shock ( ... )

Asuka requested time at the bulletin board before she went to take a shower. She wasn't sure what she expected to find, but with how crappy last night had gone, the young girl was sure someone in their group had something to say about it. Not surprising that it was Okita. What the second child hadn't expected was to read that there would be an actual face-to-face meeting.

InterestingForget showering; the redhead didn't want to miss a second of it. And since the Sun Room wasn't as spacious as the cafeteria, the small gathering (one which Asuka hoped would get a little bigger than this) wasn't hard to find. In all actuality, they sort of stuck out. The eva pilot was sure half the guards in here were wary of it, but this was Okita she was speculating. He knew better than her everyone and their mothers was watching them ( ... )

QUESTION she_is_ruin March 14 2011, 23:07:02 UTC
Who was she? The more time she spent locked up in this place, the more relevant the question seemed to become. Who was she, where was she, where did she come from? What did the sesshouseki mean? What was real? The Institute made questions out of what had once felt like simple facts. If Yomi and her memories could be recolored and redressed on a whim, what made one identity more valid than the others? She had felt whole as an innocent human until the moment she hadn‘t. She felt whole now, but that obviously didn’t count for everything when her sense of self had been messed with not once but twice already. Yoshiko had felt equally real as a person, and so had her convictions last night when she’d been fighting for the Institute ( ... )

Asuka was volunteering to help with the keys and Okita nodded at her, taking her name down in his mind. She had only a bat and she had panicked last night, but if it was as simple as matching keys then... Only Okita knew it was never that simple. Locked doors usually held something precious behind them and that would mean Asuka would need someone to go with her that could protect her. Perhaps Kenshin. That was a good possibility for them both ( ... )

As soon as they'd been dismissed, Kratos gingerly got to his feet just in time to greet the soldier who'd escorted him earlier to breakfast. "You'll be staying in the Sun Room instead," the man said, motioning for him to follow, "since the cold wouldn't be good for your health ( ... )

Cleaning would have been relaxing if it hadn't been for his companion for the hour. Japan felt a tinge of regret at how he had acted, wishing he'd been able to pretend to be a bit more normal in the face of one of his country's favorite idols. It was just such a shock to see her...well, in a three-dimensional form. Japan still wasn't used to it now that he was beginning to realize Germany had been right. These people weren't cosplayers or fictional anymore. They were living, breathing flesh and blood people whom he was going to have to learn to get along with if he wanted to survive apart from the other Nations. Eventually he would have to, even if America was back ( ... )

Ah, there was Sora. If the boy was in the Sun Room, that meant that he could expect a general check-in post for Arts and Crafts on the bulletin in the near future. Good. The sooner he was able to let Sora know about his temporary withdrawal from club activities, the less time he would need to spend thinking about it...

In any case, it seemed he would be having more unexpected company. Kratos had already spent much of breakfast talking to Soma, and now, actually hungry and aching with every word he spoke, he was being asked to do it all again - provided that this man was truly after conversation. It was difficult to tell. Like Ishida, he looked like he could be one of the Mizuho, and that meant that he probably would be just as adept as they were at the fine arts of self-restraint and neutrality.

In cases like these, though, all he could was oblige and wait to see if he'd made some sort of mistake. Kratos nodded in return. "Not at all." After all, the couch was completely empty aside from him; to refuse would be rather foolish.

Japan bowed his head again and moved over to take a seat. As he sat down, the cushions supporting his back in just the right way, he couldn't help but let out a small sigh of relief. He generally preferred sitting on tatami if he could help it, but Western couches were a lovely invention. He could tell that Kratos was in need of this quiet time as well and so he let the silence stretch between them for a bit, waiting until a more opportune time to speak ( ... )
