[From
here.]In a detached way, Edward could recognize how lucky he was to have met Stefan at the time he did. Now with Venom gone, he had no one he trusted outside of Bella and no source of blood. Stefan was a lot more like Edward than Venom had ever been - beyond the most obvious ways, too - but he didn't have the time. They hadn't been trying to

M37 was only a few doors down, in the exact same place that his own room was located on his hall. They'd always been so close to each other, yet they'd chosen to meet up in the main hall instead. Maybe that had made it faster, but Sora still frowned at the thought.
He'd had to go through this far too many times, this situation where a friend didn't show up and he was forced to go to their room and see things for himself. It almost always ended badly, and the fact that he was now being forced to do it for Riku just made him even more upset.
But he couldn't force Kairi to take the first action, and so after a pause that was probably too long, he pulled forward and knocked on the door. There wasn't much point in doing so, and yet he would have felt weird bursting in without at least knocking once to make sure.

Reaching Riku's door was hard. She waited outside with Sora, listening as he knocked, listening for any movement within the room. She couldn't hear anything, but that didn't mean that there was no one within it ... right? Keep telling yourself that, Kairi, a dark thought in her head whispered, and she shook her head to try and dispel the cruel voice. Where did that come from? But when there was no answer, things only got worse. Unable to wait any longer, Kairi (without even realizing it.) shoved her flashlight into her pocket so she could grasp onto Sora's hand, hoping to at least show him that she was there, beside him, and that things were going to be okay ( ... )

Kairi was thankful for the dark for once. With her flashlight off and Sora's flashlight only a small glow, it was hard to see the potential pain in his eyes ... and hard for him to see hers, too. She couldn't stand to see him sad.
Her eyes looked around the empty room, hoping for at least a clue that he was there earlier ... but there was nothing. Not even an empty tray of food. The bed remained made. It looked as if nothing had been touched. Not even the pillow was slightly off center. Everything was perfect. Pristine. Waiting for the next prisoner to walk through the door and awaken to the terrors that roamed the hallways.
Kairi's grip on Sora's hand tightened to the point where it was almost painful for her before becoming gentle, and soon, she let go. She didn't want to chain him to her. Not now.
"Well," she whispered in a soft voice, her eyes falling shut as she got herself under control. He'll be back. "Looks like we should ... be on our way."

That was almost a promise that there would be something going on tonight, something that Claire would not be missing. This General Aguilar character was becoming more intriguing by the minute. Finding the man and having a talk didn't sound like a bad plan of action. In fact, Claire decided this would be his new goal now! Might as well, since Landel seemed to be out of the picture now.
Claire waved goodbye to Morgan, answering with a cheerful "Crepi!" (1) before his roommate headed out, the door clicking shut behind him. It was dark now, but Claire supposed he could learn to use this flashlight thing, right? He flicked it on, watching the small circle of light tremble and then cruise over his blankets as he steadied the torch in his hand and redirected it to point at his desk ( ... )
