Night 53: M31-M40

Dec 12, 2010 18:38

Sleep came and left Kaworu easily. He couldn't remember most of the time he had spent there in bed, but he acknowledged the absence of experience. Nothing had happened that day. A person had told him to sleep, and laid a hand on his head. He had felt nothing. He only stayed still, and waited for the bleed of identities that did not come. He was ( Read more... )

A quiet evening, like always. Decent dinner, like always. Bizarre intercom announcement, not quite like always. Grab the flashlight, like always. Grab the candlestick, like alwa--oh, not like always.

In the closet where he normally threw his candlestick every morning before the nurses came in, something new caught his eye. Could it... really... Immense joy flooded through the chief as he reached in the closet and reverently pulled his suit--his suit--out of the closet. It was all there! The orange jacket and slacks, the finely pressed black, button-up shirt, the red, crossed tie, everything just as it should be! Even his rose-tinted spectacles were wrapped nicely in a handkerchief in his breast pocket. And yes, even his fine, leather shoes were at the bottom of the closet and in his pockets... Gloves. Those sharp, black, leather gloves. Oh, how he had missed them ( ... )

Claire stepped out into the now dimmed hallway outside his room and became 'Vino'.

With his transition to the name he preferred when on the job came the transition into what seemed to be almost a separate mindset from the 'Claire Stanfield' of the daylight. But even now, Vino was starting to make the dividing lines even more blurred, wasn't he? His decision to dispose of his birth name had been enacted that morning, born from the desires he had discovered, what seemed to him at least, the night before. So it wouldn't do to call it a 'transition.' He had to get used to the change now. For even during the day now, he was called 'Vino'. There was now no separation between the 'Vino' of day and night.

'Rail Tracer,' though, was another story. Vino would find a way to awaken the nightmare tonight, he was sure. There was at least one person who now had heard the legend. He'd made sure of that. And the Rail Tracer did not disappoint. But it did believe in opportune momentsIf Vino had a choice, he would never have chosen the clothes he was ( ... )

The meeting with Terra had gone well, with Riku realizing that there was a lot he needed to keep from him. He understood well enough that his potential mentor wouldn't take well to knowing everything he had gone through. Darkness wasn't accepted by most. For Riku, it was a point he was ashamed of. While it would have to come up eventually, he figured it could come out later. Sora and Kairi would understand why it would be up to him to explain it ( ... )

The night came quietly--his roommate still sleeping as he had been earlier. Gaara didn't grab much--only the pillowcase filled with a small amount of sand. If he wished to speak with his sister, he would need to move to meet her quickly, before they needed to meet with the others. He wouldn't do well to appear before others completely void of information. He had learned some but none of it was enough. He frowned slightly, then left the room.
