We used to get pet gerbils from a friend of ours who was breeding them professionally for special color combinations (like the brown-siamese color of Fawn and Grey). She was too tender-hearted to "cull" the little ones with less-than-perfect markings, so she'd give them away for free. She and her partner also run the local comic book store, so for a while they had a fish tank full of gerbils for adoption up by the cash register. They'd tell little kids the critters were Pokemons. XD However, lately our friend has gotten out of the gerbil trade, so when Grey goes, we'llhave to find replacements elsewhere.
RE: Gandalf's name, he used to be a solid, smoky grey as a kitten (ha, ha, insert "Gandalf the Grey" joke here), and only turned black when he grew up. By then he was answering to his name, so he's now Gandalf the Black, and there ain't much we can do about it. Cats. They're so contrary.
