Sebastian was not a paranoid person. Granted, sometimes he happened to disappear from an entire country when it seemed like he'd been made as a werewolf. Sometimes he made less than idle threats if he happened across someone where they shouldn't be. Most times he refused to talk to anyone because of what they might figure out. Every full moon,

Sabrina furrowed her brows, trying to make sense of exactly he was trying to say about the the camp. For the first time all day her smile faltered, throat going dry as she picked up on what he was getting at-
"Wha- what do you mean you have someone working an angle?" she asked him, an edge to her voice now. "Who is someone? What did you tell them?"

He could tell by the look on her face that that wasn't going to be enough. Watching the smile fade off her face was heartbreaking, but it was only a matter of time, probably, before he made that happen anyway.
"I have them looking into the group that attacked us." It wasn't a lie, his voice not even faltering. "That's all."

Sabrina ran her hands through her frizzy hair, the messiness of it an actual comfort compared to how neat and tidy she'd been.
"What are you even talking about? Why do they have to do with our attack?"
Reply
Even if he thought that might be the first step in getting her to realize what Jemma and he already essentially knew was true.
"And if they don't, then it's been nothing but a waste of time. But it sounds suspicious to me. They happen to be there right after we're attacked to take you in. But they don't give everyone wolfsbane." He did look apologetic. Sebastian knew no one handled their world being twisted around very well.
"So I want to know if anything shakes out about the ones that attacked us."

Sabrina owed them everything and the moment they gave her a little bit of freedom she had betrayed them, running right back into the city that had driven them out. Now, thanks to her big mouth and her brother, they were going to come for them again.
There was a tightness in her chest now, every lecture she'd ever heart coming back to her in an instant.
"Who is working on this? How many people did you tell?"
Reply
"I'm not saying they did. I'm saying, Jemma is looking into the pack believed to be responsible for the attack." He tried to sound as reasonable as possible when he was busy grinding his teeth. "If nothing leads to yours, then nothing leads to them, and no one's bothered them or drawn any attention at all."

The idea of her poking around where her nose didn't belong set a fire inside of Sabrina that she just couldn't explain, her chest tightening and eyes narrowing.
"I trusted you-" she hissed, a bite to her tone.
"Tell her to stop. She isn't going to find anything. Leave them alone."

"If they're not a part of it, why are you worried?" He shoved a hand through his hair, pinching at the back of his neck. "I don't want anyone bothering them. I've spent 10 years hiding this from everyone who might matter. But I need information if they're coming for you. The moon is in less than two weeks."

And yet-
He had been hiding himself for years, all alone with wonderful gift he saw as his terrible burden. How did he not see the importance of keeping this secret?
"They won't come for me until after the moon. I'm sure of it-"
Everyone would be so on edge, their energies buzzing the way that Sabrina's did as the moon approached. It was too dangerous.

How did Sabrina keep missing that?
"If they're not making trouble, nothing happens and they go on being invisible." But if they're attacking and killing families in the night, they were going to burn, and Sebastian would see to it.

Sabrina couldn't even finish, her entire body going tense and she all but growled, feeling that piece of the wolf taking her over. It was blinding.
She turned from him and began to pace, needing to empty out this energy somehow. There wasn't enough space here to run, not like she normally would, her feet pounding against the paths she'd made herself-

"She's - " Sebastian huffed. He hadn't given Jemma a title, mostly because he'd still - until recently - been swearing he wasn't getting attached. That moment was long gone, though. "She's my best friend. I needed her on this. This isn't me trying to destroy them. This is looking for the truth that the Aurors didn't have time to deal with."

There was a pounding forming behind her eyes and she could hear the blood rushing inside of her ears, that fire building inside of her. She didn't get like this very often, almost never actually, but the full moon was approaching them and her senses were flared.
"There are children there, Sebastian. They are a community. I agreed to stay so drop it. Tonight. Burn whatever you have one them."
It wasn't a question.

"I'm not staging an attack, for fuck's sake. I'm looking for information that may or may not be related to them." He shook his head, eyes bright when he looked up and caught hers on the next pass. "Wouldn't you rather know? Who it was? Them or not? Or does that not matter in light of your new family?"

These were the people that had nursed her back to health she'd ben on the brink of death, taking her in she had been orphaned. They taught her everything she knew about potions and as much as they could about charms. It hadn't been perfect but at least she wasn't alone-
Well, at least she had people to take care of her.
"It's done, Sebastian! Leave it alone. Please-" Sabrina's voice broke, a heaviness coming down on her. There were nights where she could still hear them screaming, the look in her fathers eyes as he said his goodbyes to her, hastily before the wolf came for him-
