Aladar's sigh was much louder than most. He knew he'd be sent right into the inferno he was rescued from. But there was no place else to go, and if there was the chance of finding his family and helping the herd, he had no choice. Neither in this place or the "real" one would he have a place to be. And he was told that if he went to the "real" city he wouldn't even be able to talk or even think the same.

He stood on the deck, looking across the water. He missed his family, but he feared the worst.

"Why so glum Big Guy?" Toph asked, hearing the sigh as she came up to him.

She hadn't gotten many chances to talk to the large dinosaur, even though she had made that armor for him. In a way he had reminded her of Appa because of how much he had fought beside them. Plus, who didn't like fighting alongside a giant creature.

Aladar leaned his head down and nuzzled Toph. "I have no home."

Toph would have felt Aladar lay down slowly. It was easier to be eye-to-eye that way. Though he never understood why she didn't look him in the face as much as other humans. "My home is being destroyed. Within a few seconds of when I go home, a fireball will crash into the ground. And I was told by some of the humans here that my kind's going to be wiped out." He paused. "I got as much of the herd and my family into some caves, but... Even if I make it, how long are we going to make it?"

Toph's smile dropped.

"Oh."

She rubbed his muzzle, not sure what to say to this revelation. It was really kind of sad that he would be going back to that. Toph sighed, "You just have to fight anyway! My home's at war right now and with an attitude like that we would have been defeated years ago." She knew a fireball from the sky was different from being attacked by a nation...but still! That nation COULD throw fireballs.

Russel looked around for a familiar tall wizard. If there was only one person he wanted to say goodbye to, it would he him. It seemed silly, but it was the truth. And if that crazy bastard never found his way to Amestris (even though he had a niggling feeling that if anyone could, it would be him,) he'd hate himself for just leaving without saying anything.

Eventually he found him. "Hey! You look like hell warmed over," he called out to him.

Harry turned at the familiar voice and fired back, "Hey Russel, did you lose a fight with a vacuum cleaner or did some squirrels turn you head into their home?"

He came up closer and stopped in front of him. Self-consciously, he tried to smooth it down into something resembling the original masterpiece. "Sorry, must have dropped my comb when I was busy doing that pesky thing called fighting for my life. Heard of it?"

"Heard of it? If you look up the concept my picture is next to it," Harry replied with a snort.

Zidane crouched in a chair, looking over at everyone, smiling softly. He was remembering his conversation with Fletcher, and it still rang strongly through him: all of this, everything that happened, it was worth it.

This Manhattan certainly came with hard times and rough patches... but where would he be if he didn't come here? On the run from Rusty? Hoping no one tracked him down and dragged him to do royal work in Alexandria? He wouldn't have met everyone, he wouldn't have seen Dagger and Kuja again... Never have met Sara.

He chuckles to himself. He never wanted to forget.

Riku needed a moment to think. Moving to the deck, he leaned on the railing, listening to the sound of the waves and taking in the scent of the water. It wasn't the same here. He knew he had to go home with Sora and Kairi. There was no room to decide otherwise.

But it was strange. For so long he'd wanted to go home so badly. He'd wanted to escape. But now that he could finally be free, he found he didn't quite want to leave. It may not be as easy as just taking a Gummi Ship to visit the friends he'd made.

"There you are," Toph called, coming up behind him. She could hear the waves too. Toph was trying to focus on the metal under her feet, she really hated being over water. She turned her back and leaned against the railing next to him.

She was quiet for a moment. Her relationship with Riku was...a strange one to say the least. She liked him though, he was a good fighter. "You gonna be all right?"

"Here I am," Riku stated matter-of factly. He didn't look at her, but she knew she wouldn't make eye-contact either.

He wasn't sure what to say. She was cool enough. And even if it was a close battle, Toph had even managed to beat him. Now that everyone had their full powers back, he was confident that would no longer be true, but she'd still proven herself beyond a doubt.

Riku was slow to reply. "I guess. I always am." He turned and leaned the small of his back against the railing similar to Toph. "I don't think I ever made so many friends in one place. And I didn't think I'd have to say goodbye to every one of 'em."

"Same here. Before this, the only real friends I had were Aang, Sokka, and Katara." Toph had met a lot of people here, resulting in varying degrees of friendship, and a lot of people she would never forget. She was glad, she liked the people she had met...even if she would miss them.

"Goodbyes suck," she said bluntly, "but...I think we can be together again."

Temeraire hadn't ever thought he would prefer this kind of lull to an actual battle, but there was a feeling of peace in watching everyone talk amongst themselves that helped ignore the numerous aches across his body - a body that was unmistakeably growing again, because he'd had to ask someone to retie the cloak around his neck that morning. He was quite content to lie curled up against one of the huge walls, saying his goodbyes or flicking his tail out of someone's path occasionally.

The only thing left was to find his Young Avengers, and apologise for not being able to visit their home. He wasn't worried about them - not really - but he couldn't help but wonder if they'd already gone home.

Cooro was lost in the sea of people, not seeing anyone he recognized and getting a little worried that his friends might've already left without saying goodbye to him. If they wanted to do that, there as nothing Cooro would do to stop them... but a goodbye would be nice. Especially with what they'd all been through. The small Anima wasn't sure how this machine was supposed to work (Balthier had tried to explain machines to him once before, but Cooro really didn't understand them at all), but it meant he was going back to Astaria. Going back to Husky, Senri and Nana. He was looking forward to seeing them and telling them all about his adventures! But he also didn't want to leave the friends he made in this place behind.

Blinking as he spotted the dragon that was leaning against the wall, the boy's face brightened and he quickly jumped up and flew over to his friend, landing just a little way in front of him. "Temeraire!" he exclaimed, his expression saddening a little.

Billy tugged at his own cape a little - he'd fallen asleep in it (to Teddy's tired amusement) the night before and it wasn't quite hanging right around his shoulders now. It was newer and brighter and less tattered than the one that Temeraire wore around his neck, but unmistakably, and against all logic, the same one: he'd conjured it up from nowhere when he'd flown out to fight the day before, magic pulsing through him like it hadn't done for months. The insane rush of it had subsided now, partially through his having gotten used to it again after a few days and partially because he was exhausted now.

But they were going home. He'd get to see his family again (he found himself wondering, for the first time, whether or not he'd grown in the last few months - would they notice? should he tell them?) - he and the rest of them would have to tell Eli and Cassie and Jonas what had happened, and they could all walk together through a Central Park that wasn't a barren, monster-riddled death trap. He was looking forward to it possibly more ( ... )

Sado smiled when he found the dragon who had helped him rescue Orihime. Moving in front of Temeraire, the teenager bowed low, a small smile on his face. "I take it you are returning home?"
