Daniel walked into the lobby of the Byrant Park Hotel, ready to meet this new/old friend of J's and Spin's whom he had been talking to on the network. He had to admit he was curious; the guy gave off some pretty mixed signals, being all secret-agent part of the time and slightly nervous the rest. Ironically, if he was trying to keep something hidden, his behavior was making him MORE suspicious ( ... )

Derek didn't fail to notice when Daniel entered. He had been watching the entrance since he knew Daniel was coming from outside the hotel. Glasses, military outfit, that had to be him. Derek could guess what was probably going through his mind. It happened almost every time. And really, had the EBA ever been known for conventional hairstyles? Conventional anything?

He gave a nod when Daniel addressed him. "Same here," Derek said as he shook Daniel's hand. The gesture and words honest, though maybe a bit awkward coming from someone wearing a frown. "Thanks for coming." He lifted up his wrist to show the nightstick dangling from it. "I'm a little out of my league when it comes to crabs."

Down to business, he supposed. It wasn't that he was trying to be impolite and hurry things along. He just didn't know what to say, unless he wanted to talk about the weather or something.

"Not a problem." Daniel nodded his understanding, glancing doubtfully at the nightstick. "Well, that's where I come in," he said with an encouraging smile. He patted the P90 hanging from its strap on his vest; he'd left the shotgun at home today, hoping that he wouldn't need it. "If all goes well, though, we might get by without running into any of them. Sometimes they don't show up." Less often than usual lately, but he didn't think that needed to be brought up right this moment.

The archeologist could understand the reserved man's desire to get on with things. Gesturing towards the door, he said, "Well, if you're ready to brave the streets, I guess we can get going." Maybe once they got moving, he'd be able to instigate some sort of conversation. After all, it was a fair distance to Madison Square Gardens.

"Heard enough about them from everyone. Don't want to add another story," he said.

Derek didn't need to hear the Music to know that there was a whole lot of tension in the air. And with how some of the agents were acting, they were wrapped up in it too. He really didn't like the idea of having to be escorted and protected. That was something he was used to doing. But for now, he'd settle for being one less person to worry about, hence him wanting to know about the place.

"Might as well," Derek said when Daniel started to move to the door. Mentally, Derek gave a sigh of defeat. This was going to be one awkward trip. He followed right behind.

"Hot today, huh?" It was worth a shot at this point.

Morris had been pretty set on the idea of never picking up a gun again. It was the sort of thing he'd thought he'd be done with when he got into the Agency, and the sort of thing he was fine with leaving behind. But as he headed out with his own bat, he found himself wishing for a weapon with a little more oomph to use on the stupid insects that had thought to go after his partner ( ... )

Not again not again not again.

That was the sole thought running through J's mind as he grabbed his bat and headed out of the hotel, keeping an eye out for Morris and falling in step with his fellow Agent when he found him. It had been bad enough when he'd been bitten, Starr had been worse, and now Derek? Evidently the crabs liked the taste of Agent and J couldn't be less thrilled about it.

He entered behind Morris, the barest hint of a grin on his face (if he couldn't smile for real, he could at least hide the worry). "Ding-dong, Avon calling." Same idea, different reference. With any luck, they could get everyone back to the hotel in one piece.

There was no mistaking those two. Derek looked out the window as soon as heard them. Then, he looked a little past them. He didn't see any crabs.

When Morris and J entered, Derek got up from the chair, maybe a little too quickly the way the store swayed. He shook his head and kept his arm held while ignoring how the bandage was starting to match his hair. Even if he had been worried about them coming, Derek was relieved to see the two familiar faces.

"Introductions can be later," he said. Who knew who could wait. "Nothing happen on the way here?" Everyone looked unharmed... But so did Foxx and Daniel. Though, Daniel appeared to have calmed considerably by now.

Derek went to the door, looking up and down the street. Still no crabs. Good.

Daniel Jackson was perfectly calm; he was more worried about how Derek was doing. The man felt a wave of relief at the sight of their help coming in through the doors. He hadn't been able to get Derek to relax, and he had a feeling the man wasn't going to until all of them were safe. Not that he begrudged the man his sense of moral obligation, but Derek was the one who needed help right now, not him or Foxx. Well, maybe Foxx. She looked like she wanted to go into a back room and cry but was too stubborn to do it until they were out of here ( ... )
