It had kind of been awhile since Prier had really done, well, anything much. She'd mostly just been hanging out at the hotel. Of course, recovering from her injury had part been responsible for that. She'd been starting to grow restless lately however, and with Croix disappearing off to do... whatever he kept doing, when she saw something about a job, she figured it was worth looking into.

Or hey, at least there was food to be had! She skipped on the coffee, but promptly grabbed a few cookies.

"Excuse me," came a voice from rather further down than voices usually came from, just as Prier was taking her cookies. Orlando was sat by the table, looking up at her hopefully. "I don't suppose you could give a fellow a hand?"

Now, some people might have been shocked to see a talking cat. While the demon hunter was, for a moment, a bit surprised, she took it quite in stride. After all, when you've been friends with a crew of talking pirate cats, this was really nothing to be all that surprised at.

"Oh! Uh, sure! What do you need?" she replied, only having missed a few beats.

So these were the sorts of treats and drinks commoners partook. The coffee really wasn't that bad, Hanagata thought to himself as he drank from a cup and munched on a cookie. Once he'd finished that cookie he reached for another.

As much as he looked his nose down on those of lower social castes, snacks were snacks.

Bobby didn't know exactly what this guy wanted but he was curious and determined to help out where he could around here. He still felt pretty new around here and felt like he had something to prove. Bobby knew that was also kind of silly but still. He was the Lead Traveler, and while that didn't mean much now...well...his habit of helping people was going to be a lot harder to break.

Basically, he couldn't just sit back and twiddle his thumbs here.

He had decided to grab some cookies but wasn't really eating them. Instead he just stood there, looking around at the others and waiting for something to happen.

Kang knew that none of these 'odd jobs' Diego had mentioned had anything to do with coffee. He was very curious, though, and figured it wouldn't hurt to listen, see what the man had in mind.

Cookies and crackers weren't really his kind of food, but coffee was something he'd started to enjoy, thanks to the lawyer.

One of the humans there looked a little... impatient, almost, not touching the cookies he'd taken. "...you're new here, aren't you?"

Bobby looked up and nearly dropped the cookies, "Woah."

Okay, he'd seen a lot of weird and unimaginable things before. Hell, he was friends with large, talking cats who lived on another world. However, he had never encountered someone like the dragon man standing before him.

Bobby, you're in a Manhattan over-run by giant lice and Godzilla-rip offs. You're just going to have to learn to accept these things.

"Uhm, yeah, sort of. I only got here a few days ago. I'm...Bobby Pendragon."

Kang was used to the surprised reactions he got by now. He simply smiled and held out his hand in greeting, "Kang. You just had that look about you, like you were still figuring it all out. I know I probably looked a little bewildered for a few days when I first arrived here."

"Odd jobs" wasn't all that specific, but from what J had seen of this Diego guy on the network, "specific" was last on the list of things he expected. He'd worked off less before, though, and he was more than prepared to do it again.

Plus, he noticed as he entered the lounge, there was free coffee. You didn't just turn that down.

He took a cup with anod and grin to the host and potential employer, then settled in to wait this out. Diego'd wanna be startin' something soon, from the sounds of it, and J figured being in on it was a good thing to do.

(ooc: It's not too late to hop into this thread! Address your host by replying to this comment, no thread order.)Once the crowd seemed to have evened out somewhat, Diego finally rose up from the sofa where he'd been lounging as though this were not his own meeting. Cup of coffee in hand, he sipped it silently as he stood up in front of the group until an eerie quiet settled over the lounge ( ... )

Bobby finished his last cookie just as Diego stood up to address them. He'd noticed the visor guy before but hadn't really gotten a good look at the man until now. Bobby couldn't help but wonder what the visor was for. Was it a device that projected holograms? Of course, to Bobby, it looked more like something from the X-men comics...like the visor Cyclops wore. Did that mean this guy could fire lasers from his eyes ( ... )

"I'll secure the gas masks and other precautions," Diego replied, staring down into his coffee cup. Or at least tilting his head in that direction, since it was impossible to see the movement of his eyes. "So don't worry your little head about those. Safety is my top priority. It's the least I can do from the sidelines."

He sank one hand into his pocket and grinned at the second part. "It's not specific because it's not planned out yet. All I've done is highlight a particularly convenient opportunity for us to go exploring in places where we've been prevented from doing so before. I'm open to suggestions."

"Thanks," Bobby said, ignoring the kid part, "if that's the case I'd really like to help with that job in particular." He was mostly curious about the sudden fumigation in the tunnels, especially since it sounded like something he would have gotten roped into doing in his previous journeys anyway.

Bobby smirked slightly when Diego admitted the second one wasn't fully planned. That was definitely something he was used to. Bobby hardly ever had plans in advanced and most of the things he'd been involved in over the years had been on the whim last minute efforts to not die. "That does sound pretty convenient. You'll have to excuse me though, because I'm still a little new around here, what places have people been prevented from going into?"
