Maka...didn't want to be here. Recent events still shone quite brightly in her head, and it wasn't likely she'd be forgetting the sensations of the very real experience. But this was the only way to get things sorted out, to prove to herselfeveryone that Medusa was not who she passed herself off to be.
With Black★Star running jumping screaming walking noisily beside her, Maka walked into the hospital and toward where Medusa had said to meet.
Maybe, just maybe, she was wrong and it all really had been a dream. It was stupid to feel this anxious. But it had all seemed so real...
Black★Star was annoyed at having to go along with this trip. Sure Maka was a bookworm who was totally worthless without a proper Weapon, and Soul would complain if he let Maka travel alone, and Maka is the only one of them that can cook. But... this took out of his time exploring and looking to see if Soul or Tsubaki had appeared. Between mulling over how boring this trip was and trying to put together why things were a mess he was (by Black★Star standards) quiet
( ... )
It didn't take long for her to notice the two young meisters entering the building. "Ah, good, you made it," Medusa said, giving that soft, innocent, comforting smile she'd spent centuries perfecting. "Both of you."
Motioning for the two of them to follow her, she picked up her jury-rigged weapon and coat, slinging the latter over her shoulder, and headed towards the clinic. "You'll have to forgive me if I don't know my way around. I've only been in Manhattan a couple of days, so it's my first time here." She knew her way around perfectly well, of course - she'd had a snake scout the area ahead of time. Still, she made a couple of wrong turns here and there anyway, of course, to keep the act convincing.
The group stopped at exam room 4 - it seemed clean enough to do what was needed. Without breaking character, she instructed the two, "Black★Star, if it's not too much trouble, would you wait outside the door? Maka, if you'd just have a seat right here."
Lame or not, Maka needed this confirmation, and it was better that Black★Star tagged along than someone getting angry later for not having been there. He could survive for a little while.
They followed Medusa silently, Maka wary of each movement. If this was a trap, Maka would not be taken by surprise.
She walked into the exam room, turning back to Black★Star with a mild look of discomfort before hopping up onto the exam table. Hopefully the boy wouldn't end up tagging the entire hospital. Hopefully he wouldn't open the doors to let any crabs in. Hopefully he'd sit down and wait calmly for once instead of screaming his head off and destroying things.

Wishful thinking, Maka.
