The weather outside is frightful.

But I've been in enough housefires by now to know that fires are not always that delightful.

I do have places to go, but the weather's decided to let it snow, let it snow, let if snow.

And with all this snow and treacherous ice* what's my biggest concern? Is it heating? Lighting? Cooking ( Read more... )

I was slightly in a panic about last minute shopping, but I managed to get the last bits done via the Interwebs!! All delivered now (some within a day!!).

My Internet has been a bit flaky over the last few days - periodically going down for a few moments, then up again. Shear weight of traffic I'm assuming as it gets worse around lunchtime.

I have ordered some items online but I'm still waiting on delivery. The rest were too close a call given that we're leaving the day before Christmas.

Yay for having all your shopping done! Much less stressing leaves you better able to enjoy the day with your family.

Card and drabble in the post! I didn't reply to your LJ message as I'm never quite sure how, or where the replies go.

I know what you mean about the Internet. Relatives do tend to survive (and as long as you've got the phone, you can call them - mostly to stop yourself worrying!) but I'd go bonkers without the internet because that's where so many of my real friends are.

Thank you! As far as I know the replies go straight to the lj message box and don't end up on any of the posts.

How did we all survive before the internet? Seriously, I've become so addicted I might need to join a 12-step programme. I get quite cranky when I can't check my lj friends page and see what everyone's up to and how their lives are going.

the ice looks all innocent, like it's just a wet patch or tiny puddle and then when step/drive over it wham. it's like a wolf in sheep's clothing. is that treacherous?

and the priorities are in order i think. well, perhaps not freezing and food should be first, but a laptop can heat one up admirably. [*nods*]

:-D Clearly you hang out with the wrong kind of ice. Mine usually sits meekly in a freezer till I need it for a drink.

And light! You can use laptops for lighting. I have actually done this when our power failed.

It's just that ice cannot be trusted. Do not put your faith in it.

I am always slightly suspicious of anything that cool toward me. I shall heed your advice and take it with grains of salt.
