Maybe once the thrush is gone she'll scream less.

If you use nursing pads the gentian violet won't stain your bras, or at least, not as much. However, any of her drool or spit up will stain if she has it in her mouth, so be warned.

Other alternatives include using over the counter fungus cream, like for atheletes' foot, on your nipples. Don't wipe it off when she nurses. That's what several LC's and my midwife suggested to me. Or you can go to the doc and get a script for either nystatin or dyflucan.

Other natural remedies include lots of raw garlic and Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE).

It probably won't get better on its own. It will however probably get worse over time if untreated.
