Okay, not much makes me really annoyed.

I've been defriended for many things - being too opinionated being highest on the list. But I have to say, this one takes the cake. A comment was left in my journal that included the words "I hate America" (for complete context click here). After I'd adressed the rest of the post, I asked why the person hated America. I think this is a ( Read more... )

I assume that by "I hate America" she really MEANT that she hated the American government. But perhaps she really hates us all and that's why she couldn't manage to respond?

well she could be wondering how you vote the fools in but i know it ain't that simple.....the system has been hijacked. you need to smash it (particularly the now inbuilt bias towards the bipartisan system). 50 independent states is the way forward.

A lot of my friends aren't thrilled with the US, but... Sheesh. That is just strange.

Is it possible they were hacked, or a friend or sibling decided that would be a fun lulz? Or has this person always been high maintenance? Those are tjhe only things I can think of.

To my knowledge, she's never been high maintenance. Or she'd have vanished long ago, I'm sure. We've always disagreed on politics, of course, but everyone does. Lol! I'm not that fussed about it, really, just sort of blinking in surprise. ;)

This is true. It would take a huge capacity for hatred to be able to hate us all at once. Lol!

That was pretty much my thought, yeah. *shakes head* She was one of the people (I won't say friends) I met during the whole fiasco with trying to join hogwarts_elite..... I guess being one of the only nice people I found there really wasn't SUCH a distinction, now that I think about it. ;)

(I'M KIDDING!! Just making myself feel better. I'm sure there are several nicer people who joined that comm. Lol!)

I have always been very patriotic. I love my country. I am awed by our people and our ability to pick ourselves up when we fall down. These past few years have been rough to watch on TV and even worse to think that there are families who have lost their beloved husbands, wives, daughters, sons, fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and friends.

But to say you hate a country is actually baffling and not really sane. Countries are just land but they are made of people. I once met someone from Liverpool, a girl who ended up taking advantage of us. Then I met my husband, who happened to be born in Liverpool. If I had hated people from Liverpool, I would have lost the love of my life.

Just sayin. :)

I'm fairly patriotic as well. Regardless of how many things the Fed does that I disagree with, I'm still an American. And I think blanket statements of hatred just reflect a shallow character.
