I've been defriended for many things - being too opinionated being highest on the list. But I have to say, this one takes the cake. A comment was left in my journal that included the words "I hate America"
(for complete context click here). After I'd adressed the rest of the post, I asked why the person hated America. I think this is a legitimate question, as I am an American and never really get to hear why we are hated, though the fact that we are seems indisputable as well as universal. (And yes, Mark, I know why YOU hate America. I just wanted to know why SHE did.)
Rather than respond, the person in question just dropped me from her friends list.
So, I have this to say: If you hate America you have three options with my journal.
You can just go ahead and defriend me right now and get it over with, because I am American and always will be.
You can simply never mention to me that you hate my country, and thereby maintain peace with me (this seems to be the policy of most foreign governments and works for them when it comes to asking my government for help with things later on).
Or, you can say what you think, and be ready to explain when I inevitably (but politely, I thought) ask you to do so.
