Order of the Phoenix a hundred few years from now

Lalalalalalala! I can't hear you! Um, yeah. Hotly anticipating that.

I won't see it until Monday, but what you said about the casting of Oldman is exactly what I was thinking, too. I have no doubt that he could pull out all sides that the role requires.

What about the Dementors? I've been truly anticipating their impact... I mean, they scared me in the book, so I find it scary to think about what they;ll be like cinematically. Oldman is a crazy god, so I have never been in doubt that he's perfect for Sirius Black.

Oh! I forgot to mention those! They're frickin' scary, man. And they did a good job differentiating them from ringwraiths, no matter what "Harry Potter in Fifteen Minutes" says when I put it up later. :)

To me, those Dementors and the way they did it reminds me of the underwater scene with the pirates in Pirates of the Caribbean, and they're in the moonlight - there's that same floaty, ragged, CGI-type effect going on, the slow bouncing, the slow movement of it. It's really quite awesome, but I kept thinking about pirates. *amused*

Hee, that Gary, he so CRAZY! Your illustration of the difference between Columbus and Cuaron is perfect. I really loved this movie, though it's confusing as hell if you haven't read the book, and the Shrieking Shack scene was sooo woefully short. God, I need to see more of that Rickman/Oldman/Thewlis goodness so BAD.

I'm horribly jealous.

I really don't want to fight the crowds so it'll be a while before I get to see the movie.

we went to a 10 pm show and it was only pleasantly full--no kids (well, a couple, shockingly enough) and only people who were really into the movie. Really good experience. And I originally saw Sorcerer's Stone at 11 pm the Tuesday after it came out--nearly empty. If you *can* go to a late-night showing, you might want to try that.

Heck, I went to a 5:30 PM showing a few days after it came out, and it was EMPTY. Considering how new the movie was, I mean. We got there fifteen minutes before the movie started, and got excellent seats. There must have been thirty or so people in the theatre, it was awesome. A kid sitting behind us, but he only talked once or twice.

P.S. In case you're wondering--the end credits are fantastic, but other than a nice voiceover from Radcliffe, there's no extra scene waiting for you at the end like there was at the end of Chamber of Secrets. Drats, wish I had known that before forcing my friends to stay till the end. :p

The dancing analogy about the difference in style between the two directors is RIGHT ON!!! I don't think that there will ever be the definitive film version of the HP books (because they are far too wound up in individual personal feelings by the readers), but on the whole, this was a REALLY good film.

I was nervous about Thewlis and Oldman, but they just WERE Lupin and Black, and Thompson was FABULOUS!! I did think that Harris' Dumbledore costume was better than Gambon's, but I think that was a part of the whole non-use of color in the film.

The tie in to Macbeth's witches was totally appreciated!!
