Wow, you had a bad day. Is this really worth $11 an hour? Alright, I would apologize just so you can be the bigger person. It sounds like she purposely took it with no intention of returning it. Since it is a new job, just be curteous and say you're sorry for the way you reacted to the situation, that's all. Make it short and simple.
It seems like theft is a problem at this office, so I would avoid bringing anything fancy. Or keep them close to your person.
Playing catch up. I would apologize because that is just the kind of person I am. You did not do anything wrong and by the time you found her, I would have been hopping mad, also.
I do not understand a world where you have to tie down or lock up everything you own just because some wanna-have thinks they have the right to it. I hate locking my car to run into McDonald's, or my house. People should have the sense to know if they did not buy it, or earn it, it IS NOT THEIRS! Perhaps natural selection should be allowed to flourish. Yeah, I am all for that. Let the stupid people die off. (Of course, that would probably include on of my kids; and you know how strong maternal feelings are.)
