Every young man and woman should know how to:

1. Cook three different dinner party menus
Cannot... I can just about cook for two!

2. Say 'Can you help me please' in Arabic, Cantonese, Urdu, Spanish and Russian Don't

"Essential skills"? For precisely what set of young people? I'm struggling to think of anyone I've ever met who needs to be able to do even half of that. Some of them are genuinely necessary, but most seem to be merely desirable skills to have if you wish to move in certain social circles.

Not that it's a vital skill - a talking point maybe but... your excuse for 27 is not an excuse. I can identify most of the big constellations, and could probably find the North Star, and I only lived a 15 minute or so bus ride from you in London for most of my life. :P

I can do about half of them. Oh, and if you're talking to the Queen you say "Ma'am" - which you ought to remember.

I did have to chuckle at #13 - I remember thinking when we got your Christmas card that your writing looks increasingly like Mr Deane's! That said, my Christmas cards didn't even make it as far as the post box this year, so I'm not one to talk! But maybe let Yuki write them this year!
