This just moved me deeply..

The 2nd of November here is generally the day of commemoration for all the dead.
In most places, there are ceremonies held in public places, with the local band playing and the major or some other dignitary saying some words.
The place where this goes on every year in my little village happens to be practically in front of my balcony.
When I heard the band arrive, I went outside to listen. I then had the idea to take a picture, because the weather is very beautiful, and went to fetch my digital camera.
While I was shooting the first image, I listened to the major's speech about all the heroic people who left their lives in wars and whatever, bla bla...
Then he seemed to finish, but like an afterthought put in something else:

"I want us also to commemorate a very special person who has left us a few days ago, and will always be in my heart, as I have had the fortune to listen to him several times in my youth: the great tenor Franco Corelli. I want us to dedicate the fanfare to him, this year".
Wow.
Well, I managed to get a part of the fanfare on mpeg.. here is the link:

It's wobbly and not very clear.. but it's there.

Now I will go out and thank the major for his wonderful thought.
