[Hope he won't mind his foot asking a question. As much as Naruto wants to tell this guy that he's in Luceti now, his statement raises a question.]

[Minato's got an odd, happy-yet-sad smile on his face.]

Hey yourself. Come here so I can see you better.

[Naruto's face goes into a near frown, but he does walk over to Minato. This man was his father, the Fourth Hokage, and the man who sealed the Kyuubi into him. So many things that played huge factors in his life was not manifested into one being. Standing in front of him.]

It's good to see you almost grown up, Naruto.

I never thought I'd get to see my son again.

[Minato may look calm and collected, but he's got butterflies in his stomach. What if Naruto's angry? What if Naruto hates him? What if...?]

[ACKSHUN] disregard the Rasengan in that icon

[WHAT IF NARUTO DECIDED TO PUNCH HIS DADDY IN THE FACE. Because that's what Naruto is going to be attempting to do.]

[ACKSHUN] ... that would really, REALLY hurt. XD Also, he lacks a surprised icon. /sigh

[IF NARUTO DID THAT, IT WOULD HURT. And it does, Minato not dodging it in time because he's not expecting it.

So much for this going well.]

[ACKSHUN] His back is surprised?!

You... You... [He looks pissed, and he sounds pissed. Not only does he look and sound as such, but he also is trying to calm himself down by breathing sort of heavily.]

You sealed the Kyuubi into me! Do you know how much pain it caused me?!

[ACKSHUN] FFFF THAT ICON MEANS USE YOUR IMAGINATION.

[Minato's wiping his mouth before he replies. He looks sad, somber.. but there's a little smile on his face.]

I knew I'd cause you a lot of pain... I'm sorry, Naruto. All I can do now is apologize.

[ACKSHUN] NEVER

[Naruto is still kind of pissed, and normally that smile would piss him off more. But it's sort of cooling him off a bit.]

Can you apologize for all those years I spent by myself, and being hated by the villagers?

[ACKSHUN] FINE, THEN, NO RAMEN FOR YOU.

[That smile falls off Minato's face. He had known that it would be a possibility, but he had hoped that they'd be able to love him as the hero whom had saved the village.

This Minato hadn't been in Naruto's head all his life--he hadn't seen what had happened to him. So hearing that his child, his only son, had been hate--and worse, alone--tore at Minato's heart. There is pain in his eyes, and then his eyes widen a bit, shock hitting him hard.

He's breathless when he speaks again]

Alone? But.. But what about your mother? What about Kushina?

[ACKSHUN] BAWWWWW

[Naruto falls silent, his angry expression turning that to one of sadness. He never saw his mother, so...]

Like I said. I spent them by myself.

[ACKSHUN] DON'T COME CRYING TO ME. IT'S YOUR OWN FAULT.

[Alone. He never thought his son would be that alone. Completely and utterly without family. It's a pain beyond words, one that he cannot even begin to imagine. Minato reaches out for Naruto, his hand hovering just over Naruto's shoulder, not sure if it's okay to touch him.]

I'm so sorry, Naruto... I'm so sorry....

[Kushina. What happened to Kushina? Where was she? Why wasn't she with Naruto? Was she even still alive, or...?

He failed his son. That was it, pure and simple. Minato had given his life to protect his son--had entrusted the village's safety with his son, almost--and they had gone and betrayed his trust....

His hand settles on Naruto's shoulder.]

I had hoped they would... accept you as the hero whom had saved the village. T-That your mother would be with you. That you would... be okay.

[An optimist. Too much of an optimist.]

[Naruto looks at the hand of his shoulder with great concentration, having mixed feelings about it and what to do about it. He finally settles with a sigh.]

W-Well...

[ACKSHUN] 2/3 I lied.

[nextgen_hokage]

[He places his own hand over his father's for a moment, nodding at him and smiling again.]

If it weren't for what you did to me, I wouldn't be who I am today. All the choices I made, and all the friends I made too.

[Naruto lets his hand fall from his father's, and gives a stern look to him. Almost as if the look alone had the power to forgive him.] And because of what I went through, I think I can take on anything without being afraid.

[ACKSHUN]

[That smile turns into Naruto's patented grin.] So... thanks, Dad!

[ACKSHUN] A-Awwww the cute, it burns!

[Those words mean everything to Minato, and the touch of a hand against his just as much. The weight of his guilt is still on his chest--and always will be--but it lifts enough that he can breathe. Naruto's a good kid, a very good kid, and Minato realizes just how proud he already is of his son.

Then, when Minato doesn't think it could get any better, Minato blasts him with his own grin. It has Naruto's own unique flavor to it--but at that moment, there's no doubt that he's Minato's son.

Minato surprises himself by being able to return that grin full force, hand moving from Naruto's shoulder to settle into his hair, ruffling it.]

If anyone could do it, it would be you, Naruto. I'm so proud of you! And I can't wait to get to know you better....
