There is kind of crappy wood around the edges, but there is some real top quality stuff near the center.

Of course, going for the good wood brings you closer to your rival wood scavengers.

Scott pays no attention to the inferior wood. He can see his Quest Objective marker over the very heart of the pile.

[Toaster doesn't stand much of a chance at anything larger than a scrap, so he's going to slowly make his way from the very edge of the wood pile, take a piece of wood slightly larger than himself, hoisting it up, and toddle back to a tiny pile a little ways off.]
