Weight is a huge issue for me. Being stiff due to many surgeries and injuries is a big issue for me. I wonder if this would work. I might get her book.

You know I share similar struggles to yours, so I think I get (broadly) where you're coming from. I'll just share that, regardless of weight/weight change, the times in my life where I've engaged in a regular yoga practices have been some of the times when I've felt most emotionally stable and most in tune with my body (not to mention gained new awarenesses of what's going on in my body and my mind.) To me, that is valuable at any size.

The yoga class I go to is WAAAAAY intense! High cardio, high strength, and 2 hours long. I go up to 3 times a week (that's a minimum of 6 hours a week of dripping sweat yogaing)
It hasn't helped me to lose a single pound. I love it- but it's not enough to lose weight.
