Kind of weird how it happens: Person you have known for years, watched raise kids, and all that, seems normal. Then you go away from LJ for a year, come back, and find a weird long rant about how you have to balance those vaxxers and antivaxxers because they all have good data

The worst part about the whole antivaxxer movement, for me, is the presumption that autism is somehow worse than polio. I mean, yes: It's Very Bad Science. It's also Ridiculously Bad Value Judgement.

Time is finite

It's hard to let people go, but I only have so many discretionary hours each day. I worry about building my own bubble, but at least it's one based on what I think is sane.

Indeed. I was on prospers.com for many years, it was the most diverse bunch of radical nutcakes, liberal goons, conservative birthers, larouchites, criminals, racists, feminists, peacenicks, junkies, and Methodists. But we all had one thread in common:

We were all stupid enough to lend on prosper.com :-)

As the years went on I noticed that the sane people were leaving and the crazies were getting crazier. So finally in 2016 I gave it up. And even now I feel bad about that, because it was a true cross-section of people that transcended bubbles.

Not many of those these days. Drat.

Sh!t, batsh!t, batsh!t crazy... And being related to some of them, although not the knee-deep-in-guano ones, is rough to deal with.
