So there's one thing I wanted to talk about on here. (Okay, there are millions of things I mean to write about and never do, but that's neither here nor there.) ( vegetarian stuff, also I'm really hungry )
I totally agree that being vegetarian results in a greater consumption of food. After being vegetarian for over 7-8? (not sure) years, I'm still just *shocked* at how filling I find meat. And I would actually argue that it's not necessarily healthier, though of course it would be for someone who like, eats steaks all the time. Being vegan is a healthier diet, for sure, but being vegetarian...you can still eat ice cream, cake, donuts, pretty much all desserts in the world
( ... )
Yeah, vegetarianism is not necessarily healthier, that's what I meant by supposedly. I think it is in some ways but lots of junk food is not only still okay to eat, but more tempting for me personally.
I do need to exercise more, definitely. I need to figure out how to do that more right now with working and not really being able to afford a gym membership.
Thanks for the comment, man! We can try and help each other.
The reason there are a lot of fat vegetarians is because not eating meat is not automatically healthy. For example, you could get Cheetos and brownies all day and thats vegetarian. Sounds effin tasty right now though. Mmmm...brownies.
Anyway, It can be hard at first (I'm just extremely reduced meat right now, but I was a veggie for years), but it's pretty rewarding. If you like to cook, it's a really cool way to challenge yourself to do new things. And if you don't, there's still tons of educating you can do for yourself. Just remember that is a whole new lifestyle! You'll get the hang of it---and if you just keep being aware of what you're eating, after awhile it will be old hat to get balanced meals. Good luck! :)
Well, have you sworn off ALL meat? Not sure which of the many facts about the meat indusrty you are referring to, so i'm going out on a limb here. Tuna is a great source of protein and omega 3 fatty acids- I try to eat a packet a day of it, and it comes in nummy flavors you can put in wraps and salads (garlic and herb is my favorite.)
Fish can feel pain and our intense level of fishing is threatening individual fish populations and the overall ocean ecosystem. Therefore, if theres healthy alternatives that we don't need fish to live, ethically and morally no one needs to consume fish.
Yeah, fish has a lot of good stuff in it. I've definitely considered eating fish again but for right now, it feels like a slippery slope to me. I just need to try and make sure I'm eating nutriously. It's harder to get some of those nutrients, I guess.
Also, try looking at WHAT yr eating. I don't find myself eating a ton more than I did when I ate meat however if yr eating mostly raw foods and veggies, you might as yr right in that they obviously don't pack in as much fat as you need. Try eating more fat actually like beans, nuts, avocados, etc. Theres nothing wrong with HEALTHY fat and like you've noticed, yr body is craving it for a reason. Also, grains are good for filling you up but stick to more whole grains like wheat instead of white for instance to get the full nutrition

Yeah, I suppose I'm being a bit lazy here. The chinese food place near me actually has fake meat and their mock chicken with brocoli is delicious. I know that there are some good stuff about eating less dairy too, I guess I'm just not ready to give it up yet.
Eh, its probably better to not deprived yrself of everything all at once anyway. Baby steps! Again, I'm not trying to push you towards veganism or anything but just pointing out that dairy products are extremely fatty. Think about it, mammals produce milk for their offspring so they'll quickly gain weight and grow. OF COURSE that's gonna be way fattening, that's the point! So cutting down at least would help in the weight loss goal.
I got links up the wazoo concerning animals and animal bi-products.
Also try looking online for healthy ideas on how to get all of yr nutrients. Even the average American diet is lacking in many areas so especially when yr completely revamping yrs, you should look into what yr body needs and from what type of cruelty free sources can you get it
