I'm probably not queer, at least not in the sense that I've had any experience in the matter. So I got nothing to really come out with. ;o)
But I'm definitely not completely "vanilla" either. So far, my interest in my own gender has been limited to a few random and purely physical girl crushes. My emotional attraction tends to stick to the males.
I think the whole point of National Coming Out Day is for there to be a few less reasons to say, "Anybody who would do X must be [insert harshly judgmental language here]." When you know someone who is into X, suddenly you're a lot less censorious.
That's my take on it too and why I think it's important to participate in stuff like this, especially for ppl like me, who can "pass" and go under the radar. I hope that, by giving up some of my privilege, I can make the world safer for those who don't have the privilege of passing.
I forgot about this until I saw updates about it on Facebook. =( As a vanilla bisexual, I should have probably celebrated in some way. If I celebrated by dancing on a pole, does that count? Because I did.
Cool; I'm glad for you. I think that asexuality is one of those last bastions of prejudice, where it's still seen as okay to ridicule and disempower (even deny the very existence of) asexy ppl. Good on you for surrounding yourself with positive, non-judgmental people.
Awww, thanks. And make I just say that your fan fic had a great impact on me in the 'coming out' process. I know it's not generally acceptable to talk about fan fiction as a serious social persuader (and indicator) but stories like 'Abomination' and 'Making a Point' helped me to...idk, know that I wasn't alone? That my sexuality was out there and hot and could be part of a loving relationship. I think fan fic is such a great thing because it represents a cultural shift in perceptions of pornography away from male-centric, rape-culture tropes; I think it represents women taking back control over their sexuality and sexual fulfillment. At the time I was learning to accept this about myself, I was reading a lot of your stuff. So, thanks.
Because I should admit that often when I write kinky stories, I see myself on the secret mission to stretch (and challenge) people's imagination. I really love to bring my own experiences across in the hope that they could inspire others to live how they want to live, no matter how kinky or out-of-the-norm they consider their fantasies.

Let's just call it open minded for now. ;o)
