I love the pointing hands. They just... fit, somehow. Because on the one hand, there really is a lot of symbolism, and you can have fun analysing it and arguing over it 'til the Nanamis come home; but on the other, the show's clearly not taking itself too seriously while it's about it.
As an added bonus, it's all wonderfully creepy and disturbing. Yay. :)
