Where I watch Revolutionary Girl Utena, Episode 22
You know, whenever those pointing hands showed up to make sure that I didn't miss a particular bit of symbolism or imagery or other plot point, I couldn't help but feel vaguely insulted, like the show suddenly no longer trusted me to figure this shit out on my own, you know? So now I'm realizing that the show was probably being like a magician, keeping me focused on what the left hand was doing so I wouldn't see what was going on with the right, so to speak.
In any event, we've learned a lot of interesting things today, haven't we? The rose crest rings mark that you are in a contract with Akio, that the one hundred boys were killed for the sake of achieving eternity, that Souji, Akio, and in all likelihood Anthy are all far older than they appear to be, Mamiya is apparently DEAD...have we actually seen him with anyone who wasn't Souji Mikage? Oh, and Souji used to be Professor Nemuro, who supposedly died in the fire too. And it would appear that Souji's had enough of playing puppetmaster and he's going to start taking things into his own hands for once. Oh, and Akio is a prick, but we all knew that already, didn't we?
